I personally don't know why the rating was so low, but I really enjoyed eating at this place. The pulled pork and chicken was very solid, even though I prefer the pulled pork in North Carolina more. Even so, the food is cheaper and better than Smoke in the Water in my opinion. Also, this restaurant has an extensive menu that I will be back for more.

You can never go wrong eating at a nice, clean, organized restaurant..everybody knows that. But when you single handedly see the cooks wearing no gloves as they handle, make and plate the food,  most do not wash hands, and they vape around the food that's cooking, makes you not want to go back. I've worked and eaten in restaurants,  but I've never worked at one where they allowed smoking vapes around the food inside the restaurant... The management is always switching up and they hardly ever have a hostess waiting to do their job and seat people. If you're ever wondering why you're standing for 5 minutes,  it's because there's a nice spot at the back register where all employees stand and talk as you're waiting to be fed. They never have enough servers scheduled or they have too many and they struggle...  Everyday. As many restaurants do,  but one that has been up and running as long as Isaac jackson/1863 should not be like this. There are at least 4 groups of people that come and eat on Sunday's that do not pay for their meals so they lose money,  if you were wondering why food prices keep skyrocketing. Baked steak started at $10 and is now up to $12.50 because they give food away and have to raise prices on the customers. 🙄🙄  Not to mention they make servers with sinus infections and then flu show up and serve food before actually sending them home. The famous Sunday Brunch Buffet is actually Friday's left overs or from whatever big group they have that week and have left over food. Floors are not properly vacuumed of the nights, as you'll see when you go in the mornings,  their are still crumbs, food and straws on the floors...  Bathrooms are cleaned 2 times a week. The wine cups the public drinks out of actually have food still on them before you get your drink, they just scratch the food off the cups...  Plates as well. So,  if you want fine dining or to eat somewhere you're not stepping on someone's food from 2 days ago,  I wouldn't go to 1863. The owners are amazing,  but management is NOT!!!!!!  As the management also hits on 18 year old girls behind closed doors. Enjoy your meals people,  just not at 1863 grill!!!

I ate here and had a good time, server gave me a hard time and made me feel insecure about my weight real problem.
