Been here every time we visit Missoula, and requesting Brent as a server is a must! Must haves include the “crème brûlée” bone marrow, beef tartare, and bison when available how often do you get to order bison?. Great options for drinks whether it be cocktails, local whiskey and beers, or South African reds; there is always something unique on the menu to try. Not your run of the mill, steakhouse wine program. Atmosphere isn’t stuffy at all, and Brent makes you feel like you’re just hanging out for dinner and drinks with a friend. Knowledgeable and helpful to make sure we all had a great experience, every visit. Will be back next time we’re in Missoula.
Excellent food and a really lovely dining room. I ordered the new york strip which, like all their steaks, was served on a bed of their garlic mashed potatoes. It was cooked to buttery perfection and the potatoes were perfect with it! The sides of snap peas that I ordered were also yummy and bright. My server, Mary, was attentive and kind throughout the night and made me feel welcome, comfortable and at ease as a solo diner. When I come back in the future, I hope to be sat in her section again!
We absolutely love this place!! Friendly service, excellent mixologists, amazing food, good sized portions, and fantastic atmosphere! We've been here twice and have love absolutely everything. The Carrots are a particular favorite but everything has been perfectly cooked and delicious. Highly recommend if you're looking for a spot for a special occasion but we're planning on checking out the happy hour sometime soon as well.
I went once and it was toward the end of the night. Steak was okay, halibut was dry and felt like a bunch of ingredients thrown together. Service was good and bone marrow was fun. Update: went back and had a great time. Steak was phenomenal, service was fantastic. Added 2 stars.
First time here and it was a good experience to try! We made reservations for an anniversary dinner. The staff was friendly and attentive for the most part. We both ordered cocktail drinks and one of our drinks was truly disgusting Tiki drink as it tasted overwhelmingly vanilla-y. The other drink was good! We ordered crab cakes as an appetizer as everyone raves about them - they were OK. They were crispy but it was two small crab cakes for $20. In my opinion, there should've been 4 small crab cakes for that price. We ordered scallops $50, salmon $34, and truffle fries $8? for our entrees. The entrees were pretty good, not amazing! Felt like things needed more seasoning. The truffle fries and aioli were definitely a highlight. I do think this place is extremely overpriced and they try to give the ~bougie~ expensive vibe, but they missed the mark. Our server forgot to give us boxes & bag for our leftovers until we started to leave. I do think there are better steakhouses in Missoula Lolo steakhouse for sure. I will add, we did not order Steaks here because I have heard from several friends that they are okay and again, overpriced. Overall a decent date night to try this place one time and see the hype!
Wonderful flavors, one of the best restaurants in the city. Fresh, savory. Brett's service was superb!Food: 5/5
Nothing short of AMAZING!!! The drinks, the food, the ambiance and the service were all just magical. Sophie was the most amazing server/bartender EVER and our entire evening was absolutely perfect. Wouldn't change a thing.
Lucked out and got a table when someone cancelled. Ordered several apps, all were delicious. Craft cocktails were also excellent. Steaks were good too. Our waitress was really friendly. Highly recommend for fine dining.
We were disappointed in the food and cocktails but the service and atmosphere were fantastic. The cocktails were ridiculously strong. We like stiff drinks so that is saying something. The French onion soup was average. The bone marrow was tasty. We both had entrees from the grill and we were informed it is only served with mashed potatoes or frites. We ordered a side of Brussels and they were stalky with attached stems We did not not find them enjoyable in the least bit. The cook on the steak was close to the rare we requested but a little blue. We are always looking for date night spots and this place did not please us. 1889 will be a one and done for us.
I got the ribeye steak with bone marrow and a salad and it was pretty good. The flavor of the steak shined and it was definitely the highlight of my meal. Everything else was also good. Service was great. Atmosphere was good but no left room for improvement..Food: 5/5
