I once came into this store to buy a pair of running shoes...it is great that you can try the shoes on and run the treadmill in them but when it came time to asking for an amazon price match the employee was very difficult. What stops anyone from trying the shoes on, realizing they like them, and then going home and clicking buy on amazon or zappos for cheaper? If you work hard for you money then you want to get the best price possible. These kind of places need to adapt to the times otherwise they will get left in the dust. My recommendation: list everything at amazon prices and include the benefit of being able to try out your shoes before buying...that is your competitive advatange that you are currently not emphasizing enough...high volume sales always create more success in a business as opposed to marketing to a handful of customers who might not be aware they can buy cheaper online UPDATE Based on your response it sounds like you might be referring to me in your last paragraph. If you looked me up in your system you would see i have purchased a number of shoes from your store over the last couple years. I don't use your store to just go home and buy on amazon but many people will. I am personally saddened when mom and pops fall under due to big online markets and you are no exception to this risk. I am simply offering suggestions to stay strong. For example, you can offer the online price match to those who ask and why do you care if you make a little less profit or even just breakeven on that one sale because you also have plenty of accessories at the counter area to offer those same customers and you can additionally keep them coming back for more sales and reccomendations to friends and family (they're not going to also be asking for a match on a price of shoe laces, socks, stretch bands etc... and I'm sure you have a decent % markup on those). You have been in business for 39 years as you say but the convenience and lower prices offered in online retail is only just getting started.

Very awkward conversation with manager when I was simply attempting to get a copy of a credit card receipt from a phone order for one of my claimants, sent to me. She was incredibly defensive and put off by my call.

Staff was very knowledgeable and friendly. Recommended area running areas and trails! Looked like a good selection of running gear too.
