First movie theater me and my two buddies saw a midnight showing of the Rocky Horror Picture Show. Snuck out of house and rode our bikes to the show. Shouldnt have been able to get in as we were 15 at the time back in 1982 but it wasn’t like today. Santa Rosa and the Rest of California was a much better place back then. Good to see it’s still open and not torn down.

My Fav. and will always be. Early 80''s, Rocky Horror Picture Show. Featured and audience dressed, knew lines, props, and acted the movie simultaneously with the movie. Plus awesome food, fun, and shopping every direction before or after you watch a movie half the price every where else.

Cinema management at The Third Street cinema have reverted to the miserly practice of using low wattage projection bulbs to save cost. The result is a projection quality so dim that it is like watching the movie through welders glasses. The entire film looks like it was shot at dawn or dusk. In spite of the $3.75 low admission price the Third Street cinema has, on and off, been cheating its customers for decades. The problem is that tight-fisted theater owners aren't setting the Xenon bulbs in their projectors at the correct wattage, in the mistaken belief that dialing them down would extend the life of the expensive bulbs. Not true. If you ran a 3000W bulb at 2000W, you'd extend its life by all of 2.3 percent. The problem got so bad that I asked to speak to the manager. Out came a twentysomething with an earring, turned on his heels and walked away without saying anything when I told him what the problem was. He did nothing to address the problem. So it looks like the third Street cinema will go on either pretending the problem doesn’t exist or passing the buck on to individual managers. The obvious solution would be for patrons to complain every time they see an under-illuminated picture. I’ve pretty much given up on getting the third Street cinema to project films at the correct luminosity. The xenon bulbs are expensive, and they don’t expect the majority of audiences to know any better. You will have a better more vivid movie experience watching the film at home on your television. I will not return to the third Street cinema until this problem has been fixed once and for all.

Miss a movie when it was in most other theaters? It might be playing here for a much cheaper ticket price.

Saw Black Panther, however lighting was pretty poor. Was too bright considering how dull the screen was. On the flip side tickets were cheap so the value was there.
