A1 Asphalt Paving & Sealing, LLC has performed quality work in the Richmond and surrounding areas for more than 13 years. We are a small family owned business that takes pride in our work. Mike Baughan, the owner and operator of the company has been in business, as A1, since 1996.

We offer free estimates for all your commercial and residential asphalt paving needs. Please beware of the guy at the door with extra asphalt. We often get calls from customers who have used these people and have not gotten what they have paid for. A1 Asphalt has never had to knock on a door to solicit a customer.

Please research the qualifications of any contractor you hire. A1 Asphalt is a Licensed Contractor with Credentials. A1 maintains a current Henrico County Business License. Maximum limits of liability coverage (auto, workman comp). Owner, Mike Baughan, maintains current Contractors License Member in excellent standing with the Better Business Bureau. Insurance Certificates are available upon request for all commercial contracts.

Why Asphalt? (verses concrete or gravel) Considering the alternatives, asphalt is a fairly inexpensive material ideal for your residential driveway or commercial parking lot. It is a self containing material and does not require the additional cost of a border, such as timbers, etc. If properly maintained, asphalt will last 12-20+ years with minimal maintenance. It will require seal-coating, usually every 3 years depending on the amount of traffic on your asphalt. Any damage to asphalt such as potholes or cracking on edges caused by overweight vehicles can be repaired in a timely manner to prevent further deterioration. A1 Asphalt offers all patching and seal coating services to help you maintain the asphalt in a cost-effective manner.

Concrete has the tendency to crack and is more costly and difficult to repair. Concrete is also a more expensive material to use as well as maintain. Gravel driveways are high maintenance and commonly require re-grading due to erosion and compaction. Add in the annual cost of weed killer applications and gravel replacement due to runoff, and it becomes clear asphalt is a better option for most applications.
