Took the Jeep in for an oil change and tire rotation. They said one of the lug-nuts was cross-threaded, and they couldn't take it off by hand. That they could use the airgun and it could potentially strip the stem. And if that happened (which was "likely"), they could fix it for $80. I told them to leave it and I would deal with it. My dad got the lug-nut in question off, *by hand*, but it couldn't be salvaged and the threads on the stem were indeed damaged. He took my Jeep to the place where I bought my last set of tires (in Elkin, NC; near my folks but about an hour from where I live) and they charged me $20 to put in a new stem and put on the new lug-nut. Not impressed that AAA seemingly tried to take advantage.

I took my car for a routine oil change. Before they finished, they informed me my rear brakes were at 1 mm, and the rotors would need to be resurfaced and the brake pads replaced, for $321, including my AAA discount. I said I couldn't afford that right now. The very next day I took my car to my mechanic, who said, "You don't have rotors on the rear-you have drums." He then said my car, based on the mileage, shouldn't need new brake shoes yet. He took my wheels off, and opened up the drums, and showed me. No damage. Still plenty of wear left on my brake shoes. He laughed and said "you don't need to worry about these for another year or so. 80% of your braking is done in the front." AAA figured since I'm a woman, I won't know any better and tried to rip me off. Just infuriating! Be warned, people. They obviously can't be trusted.

Amazing service by a technician named Kevin, he made sure I was comfortable and changed the TV station for me. I never felt forced to upgrade oil and everything was carefully explained. When my car needs it I will definitely get another oil change and inspection here!

I don't think there's much benefit for being a AAA member. I got an auto repair done by another shop for much cheaper price with quality workmanship.
