ABBQ Meat & Drink
"We are a Texas Style Barbeque located in Atlantic Beach, Florida. We take great pride in slow smoking the highest quality cuts of meat in our custom-made Moberg Smokers, using only wood to ensure a great smoke. We are the only BBQ restaurant in Jacksonville to solely use prime graded brisket which is the top 2% of all briskets in the US. Our House Made Sausage, Smoked Turkey and Pork Shoulders also come from the highest graded cuts of meat. We have hand crafted cocktails and a long list of beer and wines that pair excellently with our menu. Sit back, chill out and have a great time. If you have any questions, just smile at anyone with an ABBQ shirt on. And most of all - Thanks for stopping by!!"

I had some pretty high hopes for this place. Don't get me wrong, the BBQ is pretty good, however the portions scream foo foo place. Pretty neat environment for the kids and for game day. Location is prime and walking distance from Atlantic Beach and the rest of the festivities. EXTREME disappointment in the portion and presentation of their salad offering. Maybe ordering a full plate of BBQ instead of going healthy should have been a better call. i promise that YOU WILL leave hungry - i know i did. Maybe next time if there is a next time - someone prove me wrong on the salads y'all. Parking: The place has it's own parking, but if you go during rush hour when it is dinner time or the weekend, good luck! it's the beach after all. Kid-friendliness: Cool little play area next to the 'outhouse'
I have been to world famous BBQ joints all over this country and this place fits in hands down. The perfect smoke on everything. The burnt ends are like meat candy, the turkey was moist and packed with flavor, and the brisket was spot on money. The sides just elevated this place to next level BBQ for us. We stopped on a football Sunday and the drinks were following along with all the games. Exceptional BBQ done right with outstanding service and a backyard cook-out atmosphere. You should check it out for sure.
I've been here before and it has always been great. But I just ordered the 'daily special" which was a beef rib. Came out and it was huge but it was just greasy fat and charcoal and it was $35.....also ordered an old fashioned and a coke. The old fashioned was superb but all together it was over $50 for lunchFood: 2/5
We went there for a coworker's bridal shower and the service was great. The staff had our orders out almost as fast as we ordered. The only thing that I would not recommend is the collard greens which had too much vinegar. I would recommend the jalapeno poppers, the deviled eggs, and the sweet potato fries. The outside area is very accommodating for large groups and there is plenty of room to socialize and to play games.
The atmosphere is great, really relaxing, chill. The food however was not as expected. The ribs were fine, tasted better with pickled onions. Potato salad and fries were really good, I'd go back for those. The sweet baked beans were not for my taste, there was no depth in flavor, it just tasted like a sweet syrup. If I do go back I'll try the cowboy beans instead. Overall not bad.
Good food, good service. Plenty of outdoor seating, along with cornhole. Ordered the Sunday special brisket meatloaf sandwich with sweet potato fries. The fries were excellent. With sandwich, it was good but I guess I was expecting something with taste and texture a bit less like meatloaf. Friend had the 1-meat plate with brisket, and enjoyed the brisket but was underwhelmed with portion size for $17.
Jacksonville has better BBQ and sides. The burger was good but the bottom bun was SOGGY. Hope they figure it out. [ ] Potato casserole- musty. Cream of mushroom funeral potatoes but not as good. Peppery. Slightly smokey. [ ] Brisket -strong smoke ring. Tender. Slightly dry burnt ends. [ ] Pork. Slightly funky could be more tender. Tough bark. Needed sauce. [ ] BBQ beans- under cooked. Smokey but that's it. Added cheese.... Not needed. I can taste onion and spice but not very good. No spiceyness. Slightly sweet. Needs tang.
It was a busy warm February night and we weren’t able to get a table outside but they did accommodate our large group inside. The BBQ was good but the burger had no flavor. Drinks were good. Server was great
We ordered just about everything! All the flavors were great! Brisket was moist and flavorful, chicken was also, pork ribs were good but better with sauce, turkey was very good and moist, the sausage had good flavor however we are not fans of the texture of homemade sausage and lastly the beef rib had good flavor but was overcooked and mushy. We also got almost all the side dishes. Collard greens were good but on the sweet side. Same with the cowboy beans. Macaroni was ok, potatoe casserole was similar to cracker barrels and Brussel sprouts were great as well. Potatoe salad was good and had onions which I liked...hubby not so much but the coleslaw!!! Very good! We also enjoyed the house made pickles that came on every plate. We also got the deviled eggs which were good but not anything special in my opinion. Our server Briana was so friendly and warm and was very attentive to all of our needs. Needless to say we have lots of leftovers for the next few days. This is definitely worth a try!
I’ve eaten at this place 3 different times, twice with guests, kept trying to give them a chance. The BBQ is awful, probably the worst BBQ I’ve ever had. My guests had the same opinion. The locals I’ve spoken to refuse to eat at this place - and I’m talking about many more than one local - the unanimous consensus is the food is awful BBQ at this place. The layout of the restaurant and staff are fine, the out-deck is designed for kids, but if you want good BBQ food this is definitely not the place.
