Abraham Lincoln is a marble sculpture of U.S. President Abraham Lincoln by Irish artist Lot Flannery, located in front of the old District of Columbia City Hall in Washington, D.C., United States. The statue is the nation's oldest extant memorial to the president and was installed several blocks from Ford's Theatre, where Lincoln was assassinated. Flannery was present at the theater on the night of Lincoln's assassination. People mistake it for famous Lincoln Memorial, specially when using Google Maps to navigate.
A must see despite it being under construction, you’ll have to walk up to see. Expect crowds. Enjoy the walk down the steps and see the Washington monument and take a seat and enjoy. Street Parking if you can find, which we were lucky.Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
The Lincoln Memorial, featuring the iconic Abraham Lincoln Statue, is a majestic and awe-inspiring monument in Washington, D.C. The statue of Abraham Lincoln, seated and contemplative, is not just an artistic marvel but also a symbol of the principles of freedom, justice, and unity that he represented. The grandeur of the memorial, with its impressive columns and the Reflecting Pool in front, offers a backdrop of historical significance. This site is not only a tribute to one of America’s greatest presidents but also a place for reflection on the nation’s past and future. The Lincoln Memorial is a must-visit for its profound historical impact and its inspirational ambiance.
This is one of six memorials to Lincoln in the district, this one having the distinction of being the oldest existing memorial to Lincoln in the country. This statue was paid for by the residents of DC, purportedly to convey their loyalty to the union and decrease the chances of retribution for the president being slain in their town. The largest amount of funding was provided by the owner of Ford’s theatre. The chosen sculptor was reported to be a friend of Lincoln’s, and had been present in Ford’s theatre on the night of the assassination. The statue was taken down and placed in storage in the early 1900s as the larger memorial was in the works. Veterans groups complained and the statue was fixed and placed out again. In 2006, the statue was moved again to its current location.
The statue takes center stage in front of the DC Court of Appeals, one of the oldest buildings in Washington DC.Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNoPrice for adult entryFree

NOTE: THIS IS NOT THE LINCOLN MEMORIAL. STOP UPLOADING YOUR PICTURES AND COMMENTS OF THAT IMPORTANT AND BEAUTIFUL PLACE HERE. This is the standing life-size statue of Abraham Lincoln in front of "District of Columbia Court of Appeals". It is also a very impressive representation of of this important historical figure and I can recommend to go see it. However, if you are short in time visiting Washington then you may want to search the map for Lincoln Memorial which is at the far western end of the National Mall - an approx 2 mile walk from this statue.
This is one of three statues of Abraham Lincoln in Washington, D.C., with the other two being the Lincoln Memorial larger-than-life and the other the famous Emancipation in Lincoln Square/Park in NE. I stumbled across this one like several other reviewers here after visiting the John Marshall statue just a few feet away to the south. There are several others nearby here including the golden fountain, the National Law Enforcement Memorial, and a partial monument to Albert Pike, thanks to the violent mob last summer. Anyways, this is in front of the DC Court of Appeals in Judiciary Square, and is worth a visit if in the area, cheers.
Abraham Lincoln's memorial is huge. The pool of water center between the Washington Monument and Lincoln statue is the perfect place to go for a jog or run. I'm so happy to have seen the statue up close. It was on my bucket list.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNoPrice for adult entryFree
