Classic SF restaurant that serves beautiful brasserie style dinners with a solid wine list. Our server was also a highlight, Anne-Sophie, she was charming and very helpful when we were struggling w the menu. She and our entire experience is always lovely at Absinthe. Great for just dessert and un cafe, too! ;)

What a horrible overpriced experience. Immediately seated, but restaurant was absolutely freezing with cold air blowing everywhere. The food was so overpriced. Steak was ordered medium rare, and came out tough and completely raw in the middle (was clearly cooked from ice cold). French onion soup was overcooked with burned flavor. Bread was tough and cold. We ordered the french fries which were small, tasteless little nubs in a small cereal bowl. Any fast food chain would have been better. The drinks, however, were very well done. The service was fine, but very unfriendly and cold. The Coq Au Vin did live up to the hype and was very good, but everything was so overpriced. We passed on four other restaurants that I wish we could have experienced. It sounds like it went through a recent ownership change. Seriously, do not waste your time or money.

Amazing food. Got a cheese platter, pretzel bites (my favorite) and a pasta dish. Not too noisy, even on a Saturday night. Overall great atmosphere and attentive/friendly waitstaff, too.
