I remember back in the day when Academy was where you went to get deals on stuff...now they have become just like Dick's only more hunting and fishing supplies to choose from.  That's the only reason I shop there is a decent selection... however they need to update the inventory... always out of date with the latest and greatest things.

I've been using this Academy several times a week for the last few months. Not the best. 

Employees are not knowledgeable or informative. You would expect them to hire people who compliment the department in which they work. Not the case here. 

Selection is sometimes terrible. A lot of fly fishing goes on in the Bastrop area - they have nothing for that. 

Better to get your fishing/hunting/camping supplies in Austin. It's cheaper in Austin too.

Lots to choose from and good prices.  Found ample help in the shoe section and even had to return something that went very smoothly.

Hit or miss store definitely not budget friendly they generally don't offer any good discounts worth the trip unless it's the only place that stocks a much needed item. But then again I'm certain I can find it much cheaper online and the silence of internet shopping has more warmth to it then the employees here. I've never been able to get help when needed and every question I've ever asked has been answered the same way.... They don't know or have any idea and each employee has given me the same attitude of being inconvenienced having to fulfill the position they were hired for. If I recommend academy I make sure to suggest using them online because at least it offers better customer service and support
