The store was quite crowded! Especially the shoe dept. Back to school, I guess!  However there were several employees around and all of them offered their assistance from time to time. Not obnoxious,  but just enough to show their attentiveness.  One young man even helped me find the right size color I was looking for. So overall my experience was good! Unfortunately, you can't help the absurd number of people moving into this area... or can you...!?  🤔

Never seem to have what I'm looking for, a type of sock I have found at another Academy, the bike tube I'm looking for, poor selection of ear buds when I needed a pair.  Most frustrating of all though, is they continually run out of deer corn, despite a huge area where they have deer feeders and kayaks.  "Some guy bought the last pallet this morning," or  "They didn't send it in the truck we got today." So when will you have it?  "I don't know, maybe tomorrow or the next day."  I've had great experiences at virtually every other Academy.  This one is closest to my house, but it sure isn't the best.

I went to academy to get my cross bow set up and to learn more about it. I knew I needed arrows, target arrows, practice target, etc. I really don't know what all is included in cross bow hunting but I was going there to get all set up. I went into store and walked to hunting counter. Both emloyees were helping a customer each. So I walked around there for a few minutes till finally I just decided to stand at the archery part of the counter. Both employees looked down there at me a couple times while helping their customer. Not once did I get acknowleged or greeted. I continued to stand there with my son. The younger of the 2 employees finished up with his customer. He then walked over to the archery cabinets and stood there with hi s back turned towards me. Still have not been greeted, asked if I needed anything, nothing. Then he walked back the gun part and went to the back and never came back out. At this point I have watched the other employee (Malcolm) help 2 MORE customers that just walked up. I was really upset at that point, so I did walk over to Malcolm, while he was helping a customer, and said how I have been down there waiting for a good 45 minutes and you have now helped 2 more customers without helping me, I appreciate your help. And I walked out. My husband was already less then 5 mins away. So I told him, I have this $40 gift card I got for my birthday, let's spend it and go get everything at bass pro. So I went to fishing department. I was literally there for 2 minutes and this middle age, dark haired gentleman walked up and asked if I needed anything. Showed me what I was looking for and was very nice and helpful. 
So I rated 1 star and that 1 star goes to that nice gentleman in fishing department. Thank you for your help.
So amyways, we spent my gift card and will now be going to bass pro for everything here on out.

1) Ordered some shoes online. (because of the poor selection in the store) 2) I wanted to order 3 pair...but the ordering software would not let us order more than "two" pairs at a time. So I had to place two separate orders. (poor ordering software) 3) All of them were the wrong width when they arrived... even though the width had been emphasized in the order. (poor service at the distribution center) 4) When I arrived at the store, I needed to talk to the "shoe-guy" at the front register. He refused to come up there, saying he was not allowed to leave his dept. (very poor customer service) 5) Finally walked back there and asked the shoe-guy why my order had been shipped wrong. Was it just a mistake at the distribution center? Was it a mistake in ordering? Does my shoe width in this shoe even exist? He didn't know and was not about to take any steps to find out why. (More poor customer service) 6) So I had to get him to contact his store supervisor. He wasn't about to do (or think of it) on his own. (More poor customer service) 7) The store supervisor (the one overseeing the shoe dept). finally showed up. Again, all the same questions were asked of him .He had no answers and made no attempt to find any. And...no apologies either. He just walked off. (very poor customer service) So you might want to think twice before you make Academy Sports your go-to place for shoes.

Good location, plenty of parking.  Staff was helpful.  Departments were easy to locate.  Good signage.
