In 37 years, I have never left a review for anything. I am signing up for Yelp and writing this review today in the hopes that it serves as warning to anyone considering or unfortunate enough to be stuck using Ace Moving and Storage. If there were an option to leave 1/2 star, it would still be too much credit. I was relocated to California from Virginia on December 1st, 2017. Just prior to that, the van line was changed to Ace and man was my wife heated. Just a cursory glance at the reviews will tell you there is caution to be thrown to the wind. Apparently the owner, Steve, decided to contact me in hopes of quelling any fears or discontent by calling me at almost 8PM one night. In all of the reassuring talk of how he was the "real deal" and a mover and a shaker who simply took over a bad company, it still did not sit well but we had no choice. The movers at point of origin were fantastic, friendly and careful. They listened to everything I said and were the kind of guys you would enjoy having a beer and BBQ with. I was thinking by this point that Steve was right and we would be well served to give him the courtesy. Huge mistake on my part. HUGE. When it came time for us to move to Hanford, we never got a call that they would be there way before the scheduled delivery date. We were planning on making a ton of stops along the way but found ourselves rushing to get there to meet them since the next time they could swing back through was 2 weeks away. When we showed up on December 5th, we were told that our stuff had already been unloaded in a storage facility in Lemoore so it would be very inconvenient for them to have to load it all back up and drop it off since the driver wanted to get to Monterey that day. From there on, you could feel the angst in every worker. Some were dropping and being very careless with the boxes they brought in just to let it be known they weren't happy with having to do the very job they are paid to perform. They had an irreplaceable hand carved rhino from my tour in the Horn of Africa marked as being in a certain box number but when it was opened, it was not in there so my wife had asked where it was. The driver started mocking her and telling whoever was on the phone with him that she was "freaking out about some damn rhino". She wasn't freaking out; she simply asked where it was so the disrespect there was very unwelcome. The movers seemed agitated at the fact she had the audacity to ask about something relating to the job they were supposed to be doing. They barely spoke a word and were visibly irritated about having to come back and unload. I had requested unpacking services since there were over 120 boxes. In the small window of time I had to get to the water company to turn on water so we could shower (was gone for less than 30 minutes) the movers had made haste in leaving as fast as they could during my absence. I returned home to find that not a single box had been unpacked and nothing was set up. When I called the driver, he said as long as they open one box, that counts as "unpacking service" and he was not coming all the way back out again. He did not leave me with the list of high value items I marked but sent it to me via text (how thoughtful). Of so few high value items listed, my executive desk (Hooker Adagio) which was a discontinued model, was set on concrete and dragged until the corners were stubs. One part in the middle cracked and the overall attitude from the movers was "Oh well, we will be out of here soon." They knew it could not be replaced but cared more about getting paid for doing as little as possible as evidenced by the fact they unpacked nothing, set up nothing and threw their shoulders up when I called foul. My wife and I spent days unpacking after they left and with mounds of boxes piling up in the garage. It took over a week to get another company dispatched to retrieve them all since again, Ace couldn't be bothered to do it. During this time, we noticed a few broken items as a result of careless/aggressive handling. AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE!
