We offer classes for all age groups and skill levels. Mission Statement & Events at Achilles:

Our mission is to foster arts education and creativity in Acadiana, by providing opportunities and resources for artists and writers to help enrich the community. We offer art classes and creative workshops every month as well as host exhibitions and lectures throughout the year. Our classes are taught by professional artists and writers who are experienced instructors. We strive for excellence in the arts and education here at Achilles.

​The facility offers opportunities for professional artists to teach and further their research and studio practice by having access to the studio equipment, as well as through public lectures, classes, and workshops. One of the goals of Achilles Print Studio is to foster a creative and unique learning environment by providing a facility that is well equipped with professional materials and resources available to the public. Through providing these enrichments to the public we hope to facilitate the development and further stimulate the practice and study of the arts in the community.

About the name, ​Achilles Print Studio:

​"I named Achilles Print Studio, after my dog who was a Great Japanese Akita. He was my best friend and he passed away in the summer of 2013. He was a loyal friend who was with me through multiple chapters of my life, and he is a constant reminder to stay strong and persevere. Some people might think that the name Achilles signifies a weakness, but it’s the opposite. Achilles, for me, represents willpower, and determination to succeed. I think it’s important, especially for artists, to continue to make work and put yourself out there even at times when doors seem to be closing. Follow your passion and believe in yourself." - Jessica Moore

Jessica E. Moore Biography:

Jessica E. Moore received her BFA in Studio Art: Printmaking at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette in 2011. In 2015 Jessica received her MFA in Studio Art: Printmaking, with a Secondary Emphasis in Drawing, at Texas Tech University. At Texas Tech, she worked as a graduate part-time Instructor and taught ​Figure Drawing and Printmaking classes. Jessica has exhibited in several national and international group shows and has donated her artwork to charity auctions. She visited Thailand, where she was invited to teach relief printmaking at Maharaja Nakorn Chiang Mai Hospital. She was also invited to teach printmaking classes at the Charles Adams Studio Project. Jessica is currently the curator at the Frame Shop Gallery 912 and is the owner of Achilles Print Studio in Lafayette. Recently, Jessica was invited to exhibit her work at the Cornell Art Museum. ​​

[For all the local art lovers, here’s a new spot to visit. Jessica Moore, artist, instructor, and owner of Achilles Print Studio, LLC, showed an appreciation toward art since she was a child, gaining inspiration from her creative relatives.

Moore has had many accomplishments, such as attending Texas Tech University, serving as a member in the Scholarship Committee at Texas Tech University, being the president of Texas Tech Print Club, teaching printmaking classes at CASP, teaching relief printmaking in Thailand, and organizing charity events.

The art studio is named after her dog that passed away in summer of 2013. Jessica says, “Some people might think that the name Achilles signifies a weakness, but it’s the opposite. Achilles, for me, represents will power and determination to succeed.”

Achilles Print Studio is located on 321 Oil Center Drive, Lafayette, Louisiana, surrounded by other great art galleries such as The Lafayette Art Association, The Frameshop Gallery 912, and The Renaissance Market.

Moore studio will offer art classes, workshops, and lectures on different skills, such as printmaking, drawing, painting, and creative writing. They will offer classes for all age groups and skill levels. Achilles Print Studio, LLC will open Saturday, January 16th from 4:00-8:00pm., and their classes will begin on January 23rd. They are accepting registration for classes now.

As a fine art school and gallery space, we join a growing presence of art venues in Lafayette's Oil Center, and it is exciting to be able to offer art classes of all kinds to the public! We will definitely be expanding our selection as we grow. ​

Art is very important for any community, and art education provides enrichment and understanding of not only the technical creation of art, but of the essence that makes each "voice" unique. We all have something to say, and it is ok to express it, to not be afraid, to go beyond and do what it takes to learn. The fundamentals of creating visual art are as important as notes in music, sound knowledge of how things work will lead to a better understanding of how to be bolder and broaden horizons.

Once the fundamentals are mastered there is nothing that you cannot do. Picasso was a classically trained artist, he paid his dues, and his work would not have been the same without his training. Rembrandt is unsurpassed in his use of oil paint, but without his training under a master painter he would never have known the fundamentals.

It is also ok to use art as therapy and escape the world by relaxing and delving into something creative, to see what will emerge. Maybe you just need something to do while hanging out with a nice group of people, or you have a child that you would like to receive art lessons.
