Does not deserve one star, Horizon High School teachers with the exception of a few, do not show the the teenagers how to care, that they matter, their special, and that they can accomplish anything they put their mines to, instead the do the opposite. Most teachers do not take the time to know what kind of home a lot of the teens come from, some kids come from broken homes, alcoholic parent or parents, some have lost a one or both parents, there are kids that parents don’t care or are so mean. This is why the suicide rate in children and teenagers is so high.. The whole school staff need to care more for these kids or get out of the school system. District 12 use to be the best now it rates super low.

We have been involved with this school district for several years. My kids were involved with Child Find and then went to preschool with the district as part of their IEPs. Overall I think Colorado has great schools and great schooling options compared to other states. I have loved my kids teachers and we've had good experiences with this district in regards to IEPs and the Colorado preschool program. The only reason I give them a 4 vs 5 is because they use a 1,2,3,4 grading system vs A,B,C,D at a higher learning level. I think that's a mistake for many reasons. Currently we are a part of a school with a normal grading system and as long as they keep it, we will stay. To be honest some of these reviews sound like an angry parent with a personal bad experience. Of course their teachers care! No teacher would work for what they get paid if they didn't care. Once at a private school I had a parent teacher conference where the teacher literally did not know who my child was. I've never experienced that in this school district. Instead they have 3x the students and know each one individually.

This school district is awful. If you can send your precious child elsewhere do yourself a favor and do just that. Finding teachers that actually care is second to none. These children are treated like they are in a Nazi camp. They want empty souls or highly medicated kids for their students only.

I wasn't even going to put 1 star for this district But had to put at least 1 in order to even post this!!! Has anyone experienced Racism & Racial Bias with this district concerning Discipline of students? They are attempting to ruin my son's life with the way their School Board handles Discipline of their students. There should be more counselors, and such to facilitate Fair discipline procedures that don't entail Racial Discrimination, Bias and constantly throwing kids out of school. Education is the Main Building block of our Society and it all starts with lifting up our youth who are our future not their racist NO TOLERANCE policies, shattering kids dreams of a positive successful future!!!

My son has been in the Adams County 12 School District since elementary school. I have had issues with Adams County the entire time. Academically my son is not challenged nor thriving. I have two other children in another district and I can tell a difference in them academically and they are thriving. Also, just an FYI for parents who have joint custody and share parental responsibility, Adams County School District will only acknowledge the parent who is listed as "primary household" no matter what your court order says. Last I check a school district NEVER has say over a court. I have had significant others of the other parent list themselves as guardians, delete my contact info and replace it with theirs and none of the 3 Adams County schools my son has attended questioned either of the two people who have done this. I was just told that I am unable to register my son for school because I am not listed as "Primary Household" and that his father is the only one who can change the primary listing. Last I check the judge made the decision that neither parent has a say over the other so why can Adams County tell me different? I do not recommend Adams County School District as there are much better schools in CO not in Adams County School District.
