Great little restaurant just on the outskirts of Artesia. Fine dining with an ever-changing inventive menu.

Story

Nestled in the luxurious Adobe Rose Inn, Adobe Rose Restaurant showcases the vibrant cuisine and rich culture of New Mexico with a menu and décor specializing in the unique flavors and themes of the Southwest. Fine dining in the evening, affordable and fast lunch fare as well as a soon to be talked about breakfast buffet! Our main room is set in a beautifully preserved historical adobe building providing an intimate and one-of-a-kind experience. We boast the most beautiful courtyard with a fire-pit centerpiece, bubbling pond and good music for those perfect New Mexico evenings.

The waitress and service was good. The appetizers good. However, the Dr Pepper "Lamb" was horrible. Tasted like mutton, was over cooked and gamey tasting. The waitress offered to serve me something else and asked if I wanted to go box for my lamb. I did not, but another diner at our table offered to take it. So I ordered a side salad and the lobster tail side. Lobster was of course frozen. Came over cooked and nearly impossible to get out of the shell. I ate the salty, leather textured stuff because I was hungry and my dinner companions were done with their meals and graciously waiting for me to eat. The topper was that we got charged full price for the lamb dinner. Why? Probably because someone took it off my hands? I feel we should have at least been offered a discount. Happy to be traveling so we never have a reason to come back.

Great food and great service but too pricey for what you get. They have a decent selection of alcohol but the menu needs improvement. I suggest the cheese appetiser for the chips and the fajitas are very savoury. The steak is good but not top notch. I noticed they do not seer the steak which locks in the flavor but over all it's a decent joint if you want to over spend for what you get.

Make sure you have a reservation, use OpenTable for best results. Food is good, not spectacular. Portions are typical, not huge as some reported. Service can be slow. Dinner reservation was 6:30, got seated at 6:45, didn't get food until 7:50. Once good was delivered, wait person didn't reappear until everybody was done. They automatically add an 18% gratuity on any order over $9 so watch out.

Got the fillet with peppercorn sauce. It was excellent. No salad with it which was strange I thought. Never figured a place so far out of the way would be that good.

We took some friends from out of town there last night. After we turned in our order it took an hour and half to be served. The baked potatoes were so cold that the butter would not even melt. The steaks were over cooked but cold when we received them. Really disappointed as we were trying to show our guests a good restaurant was available in a small town. Follow up. One of my friends who was with us had also posted a review. The owner asked us to return and give them another chance. We did and everything was excellent n. Of course they were expecting us. So we shall see the next time we go.
