Advantage Electric Services Ltd,  has the contracts to work in my building.I was advised by the building PM to contact a Mr Peter at Advantage electric to mitigate a bathroom exhaust fan issue. I called, we spoke. He said he was actually on site at the time and would come to my unit later that evening to assess and so forth. He did not show. I assumed he was busy. I called again, no response. This happens to me a lot. The assumption is that blacks can’t afford the service. I find that as a black home owner in Ontario, I have an exceptionally difficult time finding professionals who are consistent and committed to working on my issues. Whenever my white partner contacts a person,  they come right away and there is usually no further issues. When a person with an ethnic accent calls there is usually less action taken, in my observation and experience. This decreases the value of homes owned by black people. Black homes are appraised at a much lower value by local appraisers with anti black racist ideals. It’s no coincidence that most black communities become  “ghettos”.  The process begins by not being able to administer to your property.This is characterized by tradespeople discrimination of services. I cite my issue with Advantage Electric Services Ltd as evidence. Canada is a multi cultural country.  This  is why I speak up on such issues that affects us as a community. Any homeowner who is experiencing discrimination be it age, gender, race, or economical please speak up.
