A hidden gem for AYCE sushi/sashimi. Very easy to get to off the R line though in a strip mall with parking if you’re driving. On the smallish side so I can see how this can feel snug at max capacity. I went on a Friday ~3pm so it was not crowded at all. Note: slightly cheaper on weekdays and get a 5% discount if paying cash. Service was great, very attentive and polite. As soon as I checked off my order they swooped by and I never had to wait long on refills. Everything tasted fresh and since I was dining solo, I avoided the rolls or heavier dishes like udon or tempura cause I’d fill up too fast my strategy was to net out even haha. I would come again with a group so I can sample a larger variety, but it’s not a place I would go out of my way for regularly. Give it a shot and pace yourself
I have been wanting to try Akino for awhile and so on our way back from Connecticut my wife and I made sure to stop in on our way home. It was a Sunday night and was pretty busy, no wait, but almost completely full. The place itself is kinda small, but it is laid out nice as to not feel too cramped. It was decorated for Halloween and overall the dining atmosphere was very enjoyable. Parking could be an issue as there is a grocery store aside of it. The service was very good. All the staff was very friendly, pleasant and attentive. The food was prepared in a timely fashion and was presented well. The fish was fresh and delicious and the kitchen apps were all served at appropriate temperatures. The nigiri and roll pieces are a bit smaller than other AYCE places which is fine with me as the ratios of fish/rice was still good. I just was noting as it may be better for those who are worried they wouldn’t be able to try a few rolls. I usually go for more sashimi which I found to be delicious and I appreciated that everything was cut uniformly and presented well. If I were to nitpick something it would be that the spicy rolls had a bit too much tempura as I like spicy rolls without tempura, but not a big deal. I thoroughly enjoyed my visit. Thanks to all the staff.
The food was for sure one of my favorite ones, it was really really fresh and the people that are working there are super helpful and explain to you how the restaurant works if it’s your first time. No complaints! Really recommend coming here for lunch since it’s a good deal. Better come hungry!!Food: 5/5
Definitely pricey it was like $40 pp and you had to pay tax and tip sooo. AYCE here is fun in the sense you can just go for anything and try it out instead of sticking to what you know best. Service is very quick here definitely go for any sashimi but the fried scallop and special like the salmon carpaccio always go for the specials they're worth it!! You get three menus idk if you can ask for more but the three of us used one menu to number how many of each item we wanted and gave it to them to make and we did it three times. DONT GET THE EDAMAME IT IS SO LARGE IT IS A MAIN DISH KILLER!!
We always had all you can eat here. Their sashimi is fresh. They serve all the standard sashimi like tuna, salmon, yellow tail, mackarel, etc. The special roll is also excellent plus so many wide selection dishes from hot kitchen. Akino is always busy. So i recommend you to make reservation.Food: 5/5
Been here many times, everything was ok. Reasonable price with acceptable food and service. But this time, other dishes were ok but the Uni was not fresh at all and smell really bad. Plastic plates and utensils.Food: 4/5
I came for Friday dinner. When I got here, the exterior seemed... not the best. It didn't seem like a 4.4-star restaurant. And the plastic utensils and plates, which I assume started during COVID, were not my favorite. But the servers and the food wowed me! Servers were welcoming, nice, fast, and receptive to requests. Food came out quickly, and maki/rolls weren't 50% rice that's a first!, and the menu had a good range of sashimi selection. They had abalone for the monthly special, and it was fresh and delicious. It started to get crowded, but it was not loud or crazy. It was $42 per person before tip and tax, and it was worth every penny. I need to come back. I can easily say this was one of my favorite AYCE places in New York. Highly recommended!
Hands down one of my favorite AYCE places in the 5 boroughs. It’s a small little restaurant with some additional tables outside. The sushi comes out quickly and always tastes fresh. Bonus points for not putting a hand full of rice around a tiny piece of fish! The dragon balls are quite possibly my favorite thing on the menu, but you can’t go wrong with any of the specialty rolls. Side note, it’s nice that they allow BYOB but the corking fee is a little much, but they also sell beer and sake so you’re better off just buying from them.
Whoa! I have finally found one of the best sushi places in Queens, New York! Their AYCE menu is skillfully put together. Instead of giving large portion sizes that would be difficult to complete, a lot of their entrées include one piece with a box to specify the quantity you’d wish to receive. You have a few other copies underneath for when you’re ready to order more. Everything was absolutely delicious. I didn’t wait at all and I came on a Friday evening. I sat outdoors, because indoors was to capacity. All staff members were hospitable and helpful Ask to try their specialty item of the month. Follow them on Instagram for a complimentary dessert! Will be back! Update: it is no longer BYOB please advise. Sundays are nice and calm. Thoroughly enjoyed myself! *** they calculate their tip based off of the subtotal 5% off bill if you pay In cash*** Vegetarian options: Seaweed salad and avocado roll Dietary restrictions: Meatless options for pescatarians and vegan options available Parking: Shared parking lot with neighboring stores
Finding fresh, good quality AYCE sushi is quite hard these days in nyc. But Akino definitely takes the crown in that category. Came in for lunch and was surprised how good the quality of the fish was. Will definitely be coming back to this neighborhood again just for this spot!Food: 5/5
