Al’s Full Service Auto Repair has been providing quality auto repair to the Cedar Rapids area for the past 50 years.

Story

We can perform almost any repair on your car, truck or SUV. We also offer a shuttle service for the convenience of our customers while we’re working on their vehicle. Al’s makes getting your car serviced easier on you by staying open for extended hours, from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. during the week and on Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. There’s no need to take time off of work just to get your car serviced.

Our ASE certified mechanics will take care of you and your car, performing computer diagnostics, driveability, tuneups, brakes, air conditioning, flushes, electrical, tire installation and tire balancing, and propane. We will give you quality results at a price you can manage.

I have known Gary at Al's since 1990. Great place to take your used car.

I like coming to this place, It's within walking distance to my house if they need to keep my vehicle. They are flexible to my schedule and typically they can get me in pretty quickly. To be honest, I have worked with other cheaper places, but these guys are knowledgeable and answer my car questions openly when i ask them (I have been to other places that are secretive about how to perform maintenance on my own car, like if im not a cert'ed mechanic I shouldn't be under the hood) . I don't get that here. I enjoy working with businesses that want to keep my vehicle in shape if that means me doing the work and them guiding or them taking over when it's too much for my skillset with cars. That to me is a good relationship and what is important to me. 
Lastly, they have a nice office with free wifi .

Very helpful, reasonable, and nice shop. I really appreciate that they are open during non-typical hours.  They have found some things on my car during that another shop missed.

I called this place to get an estimate for my car to get fixed. They said bring it in the next day. I went in after work was half an hour early. I told them what was wrong with my car before they started looking at it. The reason I went in is because I thought they were going to look it and give me an estimate. About an hour later they say my car is ready. I go to get my keys and they say I owe $51 for a diagnostic. When I went in they said nothing about getting a diagnostic done. They did not make anything clear about it being done. Later I called and the guy that was at the counter said he did mess up and did not tell me that they were going to diagnose my car the day that I took it in. Had I known that they were going to do the diagnostic I wouldn't have even giving him the keys. Now I'm in the process of trying to get the money back or at least half of it.
