There were lots of billboards on the highway promoting this place, and we had to stop for lunch so it was with trepidation we decided to stop here. Normally, places that advertise this much is a "tourist trap". While this is no exception, they did do this place very well. There was a large restaurant and a large gift shop, both are well done. We decided to eat something light so we went for the salad and soup bar. The salad had good selection and everything was fresh. The service was excellent. So, even though it was a tourist trap, it was a pleasant one. Good place to stop.

Al's truly is an oasis. After miles of seeing nothing but bison burger joints while traveling from the Badlands eastward, I was grateful to find a place with a salad bar (I'm a vegetarian, but was also craving something other than fast food). At just $8 per person ($4.75 for kids), it's a great value. Along with romaine and salad greens and the usual vegetable toppings, there are a variety of pasta salads, potato salad, broccoli salad, etc. Also included is a dessert bar with fresh fruit, tapioca pudding, Jell-O salad, and a chocolate mousse-type dessert (and pastries). We also ordered the fried dill pickle spears from the menu; they were great as was the homemade coconut creme pie. Service was friendly and helpful. My daughter was given a package of animal crackers as we left, which just thrilled her.

This was the most well lit convenient place we could find. We didn't get to eat here, I hear it's good. They were closed so we went to the store by the gas station and got a quick snack. Plenty of space to park an RV.

Great restaurant with amazing pie! Nice little gift shop and overall just a great place to stop and stretch on I-90. We stopped here both on our way to Rapid City and on our way back to eat. It was the only place we stopped at twice!
