About

The Alamodome is home to UTSA Football, the Valero Alamo Bowl, San Antonio Sports and the most exciting concerts and events!

Story

The Alamodome is what is known as a “third generation” facility. Its features column-free spans for unobstructed viewing and curtain wall system for configuration flexibility.

With the Alamodome you get the advantage of both a convention center and a dome without the drawbacks of either. The Alamodome is large enough to easily accommodate assemblies and tradeshows. The column-free design makes it unlike other domes in one very important way: it has an intimate, “human” scale.

The Alamodome opened on May 15, 1993 at a cost of approximately $186 million. It is owned and operated by the City of San Antonio.

It is the preferred venue for many trade shows, conventions and concerts such as Monster Jam, Ringling Bros Barnum & Bailey Circus, Disney on Ice, and the Valero Alamo Bowl. George Strait played a concert in the Alamodome in May of 2010 setting an all time attendance record for the largest concert ever played in San Antonio; the attendance was 55,266 people.

The Alamodome was the home of the NBA World Champion San Antonio Spurs from the years of 1993 to 2002. Additionally, the Valero Alamo Bowl takes place here every year. The Alamodome was awarded the 2001 HOSPY Award for Outstanding Recreational Facility by the Greater San Antonio Hotel and Motel Association.

Be prepared to throw away your purse if it's not see through or larger than 12 inches. The food is kind of pricey. But generally it's a nice place

I was sharing information about indoor air quality and how 25% of lung cancer is caused from poor indoor air quality. We offer solutions to fix that. I am here with Kendall County Air Conditioning. Thanks for all the support from our staff and clients. Come check out our booth tomorrow. Hours for Sunday is 11 am to 7 pm.

Food choices were terrible and expensive. $4.75 for a bottle of water! $5 for a plain old hot dog. Eat before you go. Parking was $20 and no in and out allowed for the event I attended. That said, the facility was fine and easy to negotiate. Food is the reason for only 3 stars.

I only gave one because you have to. Literally worst stadium experience of my life. And I go to a lot of stadiums. They block off all the handicap parking. Charge you 20 to park mile away, if you leave you pay again (I had a handicap person with me). I asked the guy what to do because they could not walk that far. He said "I don't know what to tell you". Everyone is rude. This was awful. I'll never be back. For any reason. Ever.

Awesome sports venue for south Texas. Yes, the parking situation can be complicated if you don't show up super early, but I just park at a parking garage downtown and walk over here. (I don't mind walking!) Typical, overpriced food at the concession stands but good seats, clean restrooms, and friendly staff. Maybe someday they can build a multi-level garage or buy up some of the rickety looking real estate near buy and turn it into more parking.
