Really friendly service here and a lot of specials which change based on the day. Tasty food too. Loved the soup.
Update, 3 months later... We thought we would give it another try, this time inside the restaurant and it was worse then the last time. I ordered fish and my husband ordered the shrimp basket. Both meals were disgusting!! Absolutely gross. When mentioned to our waitress at checkout that my husband didn't even eat the shrimp she said, "oh was it slimy," he said yes and she said oh and still charged a full price. We paid the full bill, I wasn't trying to get out on not paying, but he didn't even eat it. As for my meal, the fish at Culver's across the street is way better than this restaurant. Save yourself some money and time and go to a different restaurant. We placed a carryout order on 5/11. It was absolutely horrible and definitely not worth the money. I've made this carryout order several times from this restaurant and though it's been steadily declining in taste and quality this was by far the most disappointing. The sauce was burnt, the noodles were mushy and it was half the portions we usually would get. The garlic toast was still bread with a burnt circle in the middle. We had to go back to the restaurant because they forgot some of the order. This carryout meal cost me $50 and we couldn't even finish the meal because it was just that bad. Photos show 3 different orders of pasta freshly opened from the bag and the garlic "toast."
Wow, did I happen to pick a great restaurant today! Alex of Rochester...Nice entryway, interesting ambiance, very bright, friendly and welcoming. A LOT of variance in their menu with belly-tempting selections. I was wandering all over that menu until I saw the Greek offerings. Could not settle on one of the three.. so I asked my waitress... Athina with the great big smile to surprise me. Wonderful choice...the Shish kabob with rice, fresh tomatoes and onions, with pita bread, and a side salad see pics. She told me she chose that because she knew the pork was exceptionally tender..and she was right! Also let her choose my dessert and she brought me rice pudding with whipped cream. Yum :- This review has to mention Alex' coffee. So good. Rich, not cloudy, great aroma and taste. All in all I had a really good meal with a great waitstaff that seemed to really get along well. Great spirit. Great stop. Highly recommend. Thank You Athina and all!
Alex's was recommended as a nice local family owned diner. It looks great inside and out. Nice lunch vibe. However, the service was poor. The server barely looked at me while taking before, during, and after my order - no smile. Never got water, though I watch glasses going to tables around me. I ordered a BLT, and while there was a good portion of thick sliced bacon, it had a distinctly sour greasy flavor. I love local restaurants and giving great reviews, but couldn't do it this time.
We tried this place for the first time. We were seated and asked what we'd like to drink. We ordered tea and coffee since it was breakfast time. We waited about 10 minutes and even though the waitress only appeared to have 3 other tables, she didn't come back to take our food order and no drinks were delivered. The table next to use had a problem with our order and we decided to leave. No one asked us to stay. We won't be back. No idea how to food tastes or looks. The interior was nice and the staff seemed friendly. Very disappointing overall though.
I needed a place to eat, while meeting family from out of town. I chose Alex's because of its proximity to the highway, and friend's suggestions The food was amazing, the waitstaff was very attentive, and Alex's seems like a mix between fine dining place and a family diner!! We loved it! Also, the fish and chips were the best I've had in the northern metro area, yet!! This will be our meeting place from now on!!
I'd rate this place half a star if I could. I went years ago and it was nothing special. Tried again just ordered the basic breakfast special with scrambled eggs asked for cheese on top hashbrowns, bacon, sausage and ham. The eggs came out with a slice of cheese melted on top of it. The bacon was old and way over cooked as well as the outside of the sausage but at least the inside was consumable by my 1 1/2 yr old I was sharing with. A square slice of cheese barely microwaved on top of my eggs was very unappetizing to me. So other then the hash browns I didn't eat much. My significant other got the club sandwich and the turkey was more dry then you'd normally expect dry turkey to be. Also it wasn't warmed up at all so he barely finished his food as well. He got fries with his club which was an additional $3.50... so all together 2 Pepsi's no refills. They're short staffed I get it and 2 meals was $40 and neither of us finished our food. To say I was upset didn't even cover how I was feeling when I received our bill. Stay clear of this place if you want decent food for your hard earned $! Kid-friendliness: Has high chairs and kids menu Parking: Decent parking
Love my Sunday morning breakfast after Church at Alex's. Coffee is great, wait staff is friendly and experienced, and good food comes quick to the table.Recommended dishesThe Original Breakfast Skillet, Pancakes, Corned Beef Hash
Pleasantly surprised with Alex's of Rochester. Lived in the area now over 5 years and this was our first stop in. Decor is very nice, waitstaff friendly and professional. The food was really delicious. Definitely going to make this a frequent stop in our normal rotation!
We love having a family meal here! They have a vast menu and offer soups, salads, cole slaw,etc.. with dinner. You even get a bread basket. The food quantity & quality is Superb. The specials are a great value. We get the kabob, gyro combo when that's on special. I tend to get the liver & onions. My kids Don't order that though. Please stop in and eat at Alex's Don't waste your time and money on anyplace else if you want fresh food at a VERY Reasonable price.
