We found Alice's while in town for a wedding and made sure to stop back in for a breakfast before we left. The menu is straight forward diner fare with zero pretense and delivers great value for the pricing. There seems to be a noticable effort to make as many items from scratch as possible from the honest understanding that fresh ingredients taste better. Is this a "scratch kitchen" posturing itself to attract tourists? Absolutely not. Not even close. But here's what hits the grill if you order the mushroom melt: a generous, 80/20, hand formed, groud chuck patty and a pile of fresh sliced mushrooms. Nothing canned. Nothing extruded at the factory. Alices is a great exaple of a place that wants you to love what you had to eat but would justifiably roll its eyes at anything approaching foodie culture.

I think the food is fabulous. The gravy is good & so are the tenderloins. The help is real friendly too, they always have a smile on their face & will stop & talk to you. I love the place myself.
