My family and I had a great time at the zoo on Sunday. They were having a community appreciation day in which all entrance was free. We decided to pay for the behind the scenes guided tour as well and LOVED IT! The tour guides were not only friendly and helpful, but super inforative. All things considered, we had a great day at the Zoo and will be returning regularly.

I came here with a lovely group of friends yesterday to celebrate a few birthdays and roam around in the lovely non-winter weather; though it's a little difficult to find if you don't have proper directions - it's well worth it! There are picnic benches sitting inside the old cages, which is as eerie as it is awesome. There's tons of grass to run around and play volleyball, soccer or Frisbee. My favorite part about being at America's Teaching Zoo is getting a chance to crawl around in all the old cages and find new graffiti, finding new hiking trails and exploring the pseudo wilderness of Moorpark.

It's the only one of its kind in America I believe. It's a hidden treasure in Moorpark, CA It's a part of Moorpark college. There are occasional camps fire children over the summer. Check this zoo out if you are in the area.

Great staff, tons of lively animals (if it's not too hot out) and an awesome feeling of community

Wow ! How would you like to be on a first name bases with a Raven or Monkey or even an Alligator ? You can have that here ! This is a teaching zoo where the student trainers walk around with their animals and share all about them. My children range 11 to 23, love the intimite experience and I have learned so much. There is a place for private parties, behind the scenes encounters, and even a small show. Their productions are not Hollowood slick and distance, much more home town where you feel you have a authentic encounter with animals, learning about their behaviors, personalies and place in the world. This is not a full day experience, more half day, located away from the noice of the big city. We have gone back repeatedly and even have a family membership.
