I had higher hopes for this place, but it did not meet my expectations. I don't know how fresh food does not come out hot. I have an issue with cold food that is not supposed to be cold. Go and try it for yourself. I don't think I would go back.Food: 3/5
Decided to check out this spot because I was craving grilled salmon and no other steakhouse in the area had salmon on their online menu. The service was pretty awful from the time that I walked in. There was no host to greet guests. After being seated and waiting 15 minutes for someone to wait on me I was alone another party of 7 was immediately greeted, seated and waited on seemed to have known the staff. After waiting another 10 minutes, my waiter finally came to the table. Received my cocktail within 5 minutes however had to ask again for a water. I asked for another cocktail a few minutes before my food arrived. Didn’t receive it until I was done eating. The salmon was extremely salty and not what I expected. Mac n cheese wasn’t any better, Noticed several other tables receiving the same sub par service. When I visit a steakhouse that isn’t a chain restaurant, I expect great service especially when the pricing matches that of a fine dining venue. 3/10 definitely won’t be back
We searched high and low for a salad bar buffet and drove the 30 min to this location to get it. Was a bit disappointed as the lettuce was browning/ limp as was the cucumbers and onions were looking a little sad. In their defense it was 8pm but still, o expect food items to look and be fresh or removed. On the plus side…Double lobster tails for $28 was worth the trip and the chicken pot pie was to die for. #lobster #potpie #saladbar
Chain restaurant flavors with lack of effort. I tried to play it safe by getting chicken, but I should have gone with the seafood because the batter taste like that on our cold food.
This place has definitely stepped their game up since the pandemic. Food was great. We had steaks and they were cooked perfectly. The wedge salad was delicious as were the onion rings. Service was on point and the waiter was super attentive. Highly recommend Food: 5/5
Went on a Sunday morning. Shared the room with only one other family. Service and staff were phenomenal as always. The salad bar is back. No buffet, not sure if it will be back. They no longer honor the reward program but no offer their own which gives 10 off if you order 30 in food or drinks.Food: 5/5
Claim jumper in La Mesa never disappoints! I got the spicy chicken sandwich and it was so good!! My server, Dutch was great- my diet coke never got to fully empty before it was refilled, and he had the answer to every question I had about the menu. The manager, Natalie came around to check on everyone. All in all, good customer service and great food!
This was one of the worst dining experiences of my life. The waiter got our drinks when we were seated. The food took 45 minutes and he never asked once if we needed anything or a refill. My steak had 2 pieces of hair on the side of it. The sides were lukewarm. The waiter never checked on us. We got the check, paid, and left. I have frequented this location for decades and everyone who ate there tonight agreed that we would not return.
We had the "Tomahawk for 2" Tuesday dinner special. It was alright. A little pricey at $130. It was cooked perfectly and the pecan dessert was awesome. The service was very good.
We reserved on open table for 6:45 pm, seated right away but no one ever helped us. Had to leave at 7:07 pm because the kids and I couldn’t wait any longer despite asking our hostess to help locate our server. We sat in a booth next to the salad bar. On our way out, the manager said “thanks for coming!” And I had to simply tell her no one served us. It was our first visit to La Mesa Claim Jumper. I hope your experience goes better than ours.
