We were staying at Bruce Anchor motel. So the cruise was just opposite to the road. We booked online for 11.30 pickup. We were a bit late so they called and checked us in. No need to go to the counter. They started right on time. We took the larger boat, explorer with shipwreck you can skip shipwreck to save few bucks but my daughter loved it. They took us near the big tub light house to show the shipwrecks, nothing fancy but being able to look through the boat window was great experience. So we sat downstairs at the beginning but moved to upstairs when they took us to the flower pot island. Cleanest water ever. There is a twist at the end of the boat ride. We stayed at the island till 2.30. I heard you can do 4 hours too. Pleasant experience.
Great way to get the flowerpot island and explorer. This service will bring you to a few shipwrecks along the way that are very easy to view. We picked this one because you can stand on the viewing portion of the "glass bottom. But don't worry if you can get to the glass bottom part of the boat it is very large and located in the center as you can easily see everything over the side and they maneuver around the shipwrecks so everyone has an opportunity from the ship. The crew was very courteous and helpful as well. Definitely would recommend. Just try to come a bit early to make sure you get a seat along the outside of the ship if you're interested in seeing the shipwrecks otherwise sit back and enjoy the ride.
We had a great time on the Bruce Anchor Cruise boat. The Georgian Bay waters are beautiful and the cruise gives you a wonderful sample of the local waters and islands. The cruise staff were great, providing a running commentary of the sites. We took the "stay on-board" trip, but next time would consider getting off at Flowerpot Island for a hike. Highly recommend this cruise. And, the deck at the ticket office is a wonderful location to take in a sunset.
Wonderful experience with Bruce Anchor Cruises this past weekend. Online purchase of tickets is easy and they have a text message service that is easily accessible if you want specific questions about the cruise answered. Complimentary parking available for an hour before and after your trip but depending on the day you can probably request for an extension. The boats are smaller than those for their competitors, Blue Heron, but the experience travelling to the Flowerpot Island was just as fun. Downside is that the glass-bottom floor is limited so it is easier to peer over the side of the boat. Would definitely recommend the Bruce Anchor Cruises for a great experience, whether you hop off the boat or not!
The boat cruises were great. I bought the tickets for my family online before hand and took the Evolution boat. The views were amazing! The boat does the tour of a few ship wrecks on the way to the island approx 1 hour. The boat stops and turns so all passengers can get a good view. The glass bottom on the boat was neat but upper deck was nicer. The boat ride back comes straight back from the islandapprox 20 min. Bruce Anchor also provides a parking pass and national park tickets with your cruise tickets. The walk from the parking to the Shore was around 3 min. Would recommend!
Bruce Anchor cruises was lovely. We got dropped off at Flowerpot Island and hiked around for a few hours then made our way back for the shipwreck tour which was a bit disappointing, only saw one shipwreck -we thought we'd see a dozen or so. The tour company was well organized and had parking available - which was great because parking is very limited in Tobermory. Would have been nice to have an hour of extra parking after we arrived back vs an hour after we got back onto the boat so that we had time to eat lunch somewhere. Overall recommend the tour.
Quite an invloved process pre-boarding but not too bad. Basically buy tickets online or in-person, check-in an hour before up to a few days earlier too, park at a designated parking lot, proceed to boarding area the earlier the better if you want to guarantee a spot at the top deck. That's 3 separate locations so keep that in mind. They try their best to inform you of this by e-mail/text. Staff was friendly/helpful. The boat ride itself was fun. At the shipwrecks, they stay for a while, slowly rotating the boat a few times so all could get a good look. My kid reported that he preferred the view of the shipwrecks from the side of the boat better than the glass-bottom. From there they go directly to Flowerpot Island, though the tour guide will share tidbits of information on the islands/locations we pass by. We disembarked at Flowerpot Island. At our scheduled return boarding time, there were people being turned away who had a different booked return time. It's worth a try but no guarantees. We were close to the end of the line so we couldn't get a spot at the top. The trip back was pretty much direct to the docks, but there was still a little bit of commentary by the tour guide. Very happy with this cruise though it would have been nice if we could take a route closer to the other islands.
We had a great day at Flower Pot Island. The crew of the Bruce Anchor Cruises do a great job with making sure your trip goes as well as possible. Staff at the ticket pick up and check in a great, the crew of the boat are friendly and helpful. Thank you for making this a great trip again!
Nice Ride. the boat has a clear glass bottom so you can see the the lake bed. You spend one hour on the boat with sightseeing guides, they are very friendly. About 1 hour later you will arrive flowerpot island, just remember that the same dock you use when you come back. For the tickets you need to prebook online, you'll love it!
The tour was nice. Staff is very knowledgeable and friendly. Now... let's clarify one thing. The floor of the boat is not all glass. Very few spots about 5 or 6 are actually near any for more see-through surface. That been said if you have a choice other than those special seats, go to the very back of the boat. Yes, it is a bit more bumpy, but the view... OMG the view! Despite the bad weather and not been able to see much of the shipwrecks, it is still worth the trip.
