About

The world's largest angel collection!

Story

The world’s largest angel collection began in 1976 when Joyce and Lowell Berg were on vacation in Florida. When visiting an antique store, they fell in love with an Italian bisque figurine of two angels on a sea-saw. It captured their hearts and angel collecting soon became a passion for the couple. In 2008, the Berg Angel Collection numbered over 13,600.

The Angel Museum has become one of Beloit’s most sought after visitor attractions. Over 11,000 angels and angel artifacts are on exhibit for all to enjoy ranging in size from 1/8 inch to life size made of over 100 different materials from fine porcelain to macaroni. Artifacts have been created by artisans and crafters from over 60 different countries including Italy, Germany, Japan, India and Russia. The majority of the Berg Angel Collection was purchased on the second-hand market including antique shops, flea markets, estate sales and auctions.

Other unique features to the museum include the original stained glass windows, lanterns and the pre-Renaissance architecture typical of churches in small Italian villages.

The museum is home to over 600 black angels donated by Oprah Winfrey. The angels were gifts from her fans.

Hundreds of angels donated by individuals, families and angel club members as memorials and gifts to the museum are also on exhibit. Seasonal exhibits also enhance the museum experience.

When asked why she wanted an Angel Museum, Joyce simply said, “I want to see a place where goodness prevails and I can share my angels with the masses.” The Angel Museum will provide a unique experience to all who enter its doors. It is the only one of its kind in America and possibly the world.

Goodness has certainly been experienced by over 185,000 visitors from every state in the United States and every continent in the world since the museum opened.

A hidden gem. We were the only ones here and the owner walked around with us for awhile and told us ALL about her angels. This is such a cute little place and an amazing homage to the people who donate her angels and add to her collection.

Holds a collection of Angel artifacts statues and trinkets including a collection Oprah Winfrey donated. There was a sandwich tea room in basement not sure if that part is still there ? I see bus tours arrive. It is located on Rock River at the base of Beloit College.

This little gem is definitely worth visiting if you are in the general area. The Angel Museum is an old church building that has been renovated and re-purposed. Thousands upon thousands of angel figures fill the place. Chances are you haven't seen anything quite like it before. Be sure to visit the lower level gift-shop, as well as the beautiful, relaxing garden area outside the lower level. Another reviewer noted that the hours are not posted anywhere. Just search Google. I found them in about a minute. Currently they are open Thursday, Friday, and Saturday from 10am - 4pm, but check anyhow because I think the hours are seasonal.
