DETAILS
Learn at home AND get hands-on, mentor-directed experience in your community, whether in the US or Canada. We provide ongoing alumni support and business-building tools to help support successful professional careers. Alumni have access to ABC's active and up-to-date JOB BOARD. Our programs can help military spouses, career changers, and people seeking weekend and second incomes.

Additionally, ABC’s dog training students have volunteered more than 120,000 hours to help save the lives of shelter dogs throughout North America in our “Students Saving Lives” program. Since 2004, students have volunteered a minimum of ten hours at local shelters, humane societies, or rescue organizations. Their goal is to socialize and train any “behaviorally-challenged” dogs to give them a better chance at adoption.

ABC was founded in 1998 by professional dog trainer, lecturer and author Steve Appelbaum; and professional dog trainer and pet expert Debbie Kendrick, also an award-winning trainer.

“Where animal lovers pursue animal careers.”

Because of ABC I was able to get my foot in the door of the animal health care industry. It was hard to study on my own, but I stayed motivated because I had helpful guides at ABC and a boyfriend who pushed me to keep going. During my externship I was matched up with a clinic locally. They were so impressed by the knowledge I had gained from the course that they ended up hiring me after the externship was finished.

Very helpful school advisor named Sueann, in California gave me extended information and assistance regarding attendance, tuition, and completion of my certification and completion degree. I do highly recommend contacting this college, whether you have experience already, but no formal training, to consider this college. Their flexibility in each stage of learning through completion is an asset and they are highly accredited.

If I could rate this school a Zero, I would. I went through the Veterinary Assistant course and graduated with flying colors. They tell you they are an accredited school and they may be but it is by all the ones that are NOT recognized. They are NOT AVMA accredited, which is a very big one and is very important to future job recognition/opportunities. I have spent my hard earned money and I am still paying for this right now after 3 years of graduating for a certificate that does not mean anything, so I am having to take a real Veterinary assistant course that is recognized by the AVMA. Don't waste your money and be naive like I was and go ahead to a real accredited school and go for your Veterinary Technician degree, it will get you farther in your career, I promise!

If I could give this place 0 stars I would. DONT waste your hard earned money on this school. It’s a waste. Good luck trying to get a job in the field afterwards. You are better off finding a technical college that offers “veterinary technician programs”.

This company practically stole money from me. Over $3000 DOWN THE DRAIN for the Vet Assistant program. I completed all my online work and was going to begin my externship. I was told to contact my externship coordinator to move forward. When I did I was blindsided with some sort of pop quiz. I worked full time at this moment 7:30 to 4:00. I got off early to be able to call because she told me it would take at least 30-45 minutes. My coordinators hours were extremely stupid and inconvient. It was like 9am to 2:30 or something. And wasn’t there on Thursday’s. So, when I didn’t know the answers to the questions she said I couldn’t move forward. She said to call her again. Ok I studied and tried calling again at lunch because that was the only time I had enough time to be able to speak with her. However NO ONE ANSWERED. I tried about 3 seperate lunch times. I said well please put some time aside for me after I get off work and maybe we can have better luck. She said she did but NEVER CALLED. Because her hours were so stupid and I was never able to get a hold I ended up getting kicked out. $3,000 DOWN THE FREAKING DRAIN. I asked to re enroll and was told to contact them in 8-10 MONTHS. I asked if the money I paid would go towards the reenrollment and again said to contact them in 8-10 months. I just contacted them now (6 months later ) just hoping to get answer if the money I spent would go towards reenrollment. I found out it would not. If I wanted to complete the program that I had spent 6 months doing before, I’d have to spend another $3,000 dollars. That is so much money. Do NOT believe them when they say they cater towards working people. Trust me they don’t. I am out a huge amount of money because of this place. I would give -1000 stars if I could.
