Poor online Services.
I've moved around a lot, and Ankeny gets more money for minimal service.

The Ankeny City Public Utilities will get you what you need, but don't expect overtly friendly service while they do it.  

I walked in today to begin service for the house my husband and I just purchased.  It was a little overwhelming to figure out which section I needed because the Parks + Rec, Utilities, and a third division (Planning & Building, perhaps?) are all in the same building.  The Utilities secretary handed me a form and seemed irritated when I asked if we needed to pay a deposit or do anything else to take over the bills.  When I went over to the main counter, the Parks + Rec lady took a 5 minute phone call as soon as I approached her.  At least she smiled at me when she got off the phone!  No one else in the building smiled at me while I was there.    When I asked the third secretary about sustainable initiatives in Ankeny, she called a man from the back to answer my questions.  He answered my questions, but kind of gave me the impression that what I was asking about wasn't that important.    

There were also other elderly people in the building while I was there that seemed they had to wait quite a while to be helped by someone from the back.
