About

Contemporary Fine Art Gallery

Story

Representing emerging, mid-career, and established regional, national and international artists specializing in contemporary realism, photorealism and well-disciplined abstract paintings, drawings, sculpture, original prints and alternative photographic methods. Fine quality craftsmanship is central to the gallery's program.

"In the late 90's I started looking for a loft building that I could move my studio and residence into. In February 2001, I purchased a late 1800's 5-story brick warehouse. It took 6 months to gut and completely remodel and restore 5 floors, (nearly 10,000 square feet!) It was truly a labor of love.

On Thanksgiving 2001 a celebration with friends and family marked the eventful task of actually living in the building with my two daughters Mercedes and Mackenzie.

Anthony Brunelli Fine Arts opened in November of 2003. It is located in downtown Binghamton on the first two floors at 186 State Street. The opening of the gallery was a natural extension of my passion for the revitalization of Downtown Binghamton.

Within the first few years, the gallery’s scope was growing exponentially with internationally recognized exhibitions that were bringing the art world and media to our doorstep. At the time, my brother John had recently moved back to Binghamton after working for the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. In 2005, John took over the directorship of the gallery. It was a timely transition as I needed to return to my easel, and John had built the experience, knowledge and connections needed to take over the responsibilities of directing the space. John continues to expand the scope of our gallery with world-class exhibitions.

Since I am a photo-realist painter represented by the Louis K. Meisel gallery in NYC, the focus of the gallery is the presentation of the best contemporary realist art.

Many established as well as emerging and mid-career artists are represented. The gallery is not limited to just realist work. It shows well-disciplined, contemporary abstract works as well as photography and sculpture. The emphasis is almost always on fine craftsmanship, innovation and quality, giving our clients and visitors superior works of art to experience and consider for their own collections.

My goal is to bring the best art to Upstate NY and the contacts that I have made over the past 20 years have graciously enabled me to do this.
I hope you enjoy your time here and we look forward to seeing you in person at Anthony Brunelli Fine Arts." - Anthony Brunelli

I worked for free for John Brunelli as a college student. I later asked him if he would be interested in showing my work. He was far from professional. He subsequently blocked me on Facebook, cut off all ties and communication. He abused my trust and time. I feel incredibly betrayed and I don’t think this man is to be trusted.

As much as I enjoyed a show of numerous local photographers at Cooperative Gallery 213, I felt so grateful to engage a collection of serious paintings well exhibited. At first, my eyes were fooled. The gallerist placed two photographs by Jessica Fridrich before the first photorealistic painting in a series. So I was tricked into thinking that all of these were photographs. Until I drew nearer and could see the brush strokes! The show has precious few paintings, but I didn't fell overwhelmed. I could feel okay studying the brush strokes. Not all the paintings were photorealistic. A set showed painters at play, leaving small gaps of white canvas to help define a hand or laying on painting somewhat heavily to define the pages of a book. That's why I labeled this a serious gallery

A couple of years ago I decided to go to Art Galleries around Binghamton New York with my wife, so we decided to come here. It was a great experience. Very beautiful art work. People were very helpful. I would definitely come back here again.
