I love this place! They helped me design a custom made diamond ring. It required several stops before it was completed. I had an Idea in my mind, but the owner was firm and he told me from his past experience that my idea was not doable.He said that most of the time what you see in a magazine has benn edited and the rings are not made to scale. With a few small tweaks My ring came out AMAZING!!!.MY WIFE LOVED IT!!!! Thanks Mark, I'll be back!!!

Worst Experience EVER!  A friend of mine had told me about this place.  Said they had some unique items.  I went in there ready to drop a couble of bucks... boy I am glad I didn't.  The staff here is VERY rude and will try to rip you off at every opportunity.  Buyers beware.  There are much better places to do business with.

AWFUL! I saw earrings that I had from a sale at H&M~overcrowded,dirty and  lots of junk~was trying to sell a ring~was offered a ridiculously low price~was interested in trading it for something else and was willing to pay the difference~was so insulted that no matter how much I liked the other ring  I will not do buisness with Barats. EVER!

I went to this store to purchase an engagement ring and immediately noticed that it was a family owned store. The Owner was very nice and did not pressure me into purchasing anything. They helped me a great deal in finding the right setting and diamond at a very reasonable price. Overall, I had a great experience and ended up with a beautiful ring.  I am definitely going back to this store for future purchases and would recommend to others as well.

Wow this place is horrible.  I went in prepared to spend a substantial amount of money to buy an antique ring in a particular style.  It's a very common style (cluster) that I have seen many times in other stores, auctions and online.  The owner told me very nastily that he had the most rings of anyone in Chicago and if he didn't have one there was no such thing.  I assumed I wasn't explaining it correctly so I apologized and proceeded to show him pictures on my phone of a dozen different rings of this stye. He demanded to know where I got the photos and insisted that they could not be right, because he's never seen an antique cluster ring.  When I told him I felt like he was attacking me and I was just trying to buy a piece of jewelry he told me he doesn't sweat the customers because "For every one customer I lose, I gain two."  Wow.  I went in ready to spend up to ten figures on a ring.  I left almost in tears after being yelled at.  Horrible experience.
