Story

In 1988, Randy Clegg and Wayne Curtis rented a storefront from Fritz Haertel, the legendary “Rye King” of Salt Lake City. Fritz ran Salt Lake’s successful Beehive Bakery, and even as his age required him to downsize his operation, he gave rise to a new one—Apple Spice Junction.

Apple Spice Junction began as a box lunch delivery and catering company. During those early days, Fritz would hang around the ovens and mixing bowls, offering gentle suggestions on the art of baking bread and imparting other culinary wisdom that his 88 years afforded him. In addition to baking tips, Fritz taught us the value of hard work, honesty, and giving back to the community that supported us.

I 💕 Apple Spice Junction! They have an AMAZING Thai Curry Chicken salad that is to dieeeee for. Today I tried something new and got a box lunch. I got their vegetarian sandwich with a small cup of broccoli cheddar soup and let me just tell you. Their pesto spread is like waking up in a California orchard in the spring time. Talk about REFRESHING😱 This sandwich was like having an entire garden shimmy into your mouth. Have you ever felt like a renewed person after eating something? Because that pesto spread and the freshly baked bread combined with delicious veggies reminded me of everything that is good and holy in this life. AND THIS IS COMING FROM A MEAT LOVER...(who incidentally can't eat lunch meat until the tiny little sucker growing inside me pops out). 

I haven't even gotten to the soup. Now soup in the summer time might not sound hat appealing...and maybe it's just the baby cravings but daaaayyyuuum. Their broccoli cheddar soup had the PERFECT consistency (not too thick but not too thin) It 👏🏽 Was 👏🏽 Hearty👏🏽 Hallelujah. Praise the Lord and go get yourself some Apple Spice Junction.

While I enjoy the food and the options I've come to find that the customer service can be abhorrent. For example, last week I picked up my order, got back to the office and found that my side was missing. I emailed right away, but heard nothing back.  So today when I visited I explained my concern about what had happened you'd expect an apology. You'd hope for an apology and perhaps a replacement or 10% off next order type of thing that says they value the customer.  Apple Spice staff prefer to blame the customer. "You need to check through your order before you leave."  Obviously I will in the future, but this level of apathy about a $9.00 order makes me feel less likely to trust them with my future $100+ orders.

Our large group ordered salads, sandwiches and deserts, and i just want to say thank you. Absolutely everyone got exactly what they ordered and the food was delicious. Pick up was on time with no waiting.

Best. Sandwiches. Ever. Very well decorated place, quiet atmosphere and super nice staff. One time we even got half a sandwich free because they accidentally made the wrong sandwich!

I come here for lunch pretty often, and the frequency that there is something wrong with my order (always to go) is unacceptable. Over the last year, I've come here for lunch on average about twice a week, and have experienced missing parts from my order way too many times. The side I order, the pickle, the cookie, or the bacon on my turkey bacon sandwich. The last straw was today when they put the wrong sauce on my jalapeno cranberry turkey wrap. It's literally in the name of the order, and they messed it up. Overall the quality of the food is decent to good, but I won't be coming here any more.
