Super fast, very friendly, tastes great, I got the sweet corn Arepa w cheese and guacamole . I needed something quick before the airport and they were already done 5 min after I ordered it. yummy. Lots of guacamole and good white cheese. The guacamole was seasoned just right and not too salty. Fast and easy and good árepas. Definitely going again. Base price for arepa w cheese is $7 plus $2 for each side. Vegetarian options: Yes it’s great to make your own vegetarian arepa bc they have choices of sides or toppings or inserted sides Kid-friendliness: Yes bc it’s fun and lots of space Parking: Parking is not easy in this area at all so come on a Sunday for street parking you have to find or park in a garage or just take public transportation or the scooters or bike the European way Wheelchair accessibility: Elevator is in the complex of many shots
We heard of this little food market from someone who worked in the area and we decided to stop by for lunch and we’re so happy we did. What a cute little area with so much variety of food vendors. I decided to get the shredded beef patacon and was blown away by the quality, portion and price.
I got a steak arepa de queso, and my first few bites were super delicious - an amazing mix of cheese, sweetness, and flavorful meat, By the end, though, I found the arepa itself to be a bit too sweet. The garlic aioli they provided helped to balance it, but I felt it needed something else to keep the sweetness from being overpowering. Nonetheless, it is worth trying and maybe sharing or splitting, with a tasting menu of other options! even if I might not recommend it as your sole entree.
I have celiac, and according to the person all but one arepa on the menu is gluten free. He didn’t seem super confident so I was a bit nervous, but I didn’t get sick! I would love if they labeled allergens/gluten free items on the menu to help diners with allergies feel more confident eating there and to attract more gluten free customers! I got a steak and cheese arepa and it was delicious and one was super filling! Great to have a solid gluten free option in DeKalb Market.
The sweet plantain sandwich is interesting and tasty in our opinion, but the portion is rather small and it’s pricy also.
Let me tell you something, No! No to a cheese with shredded chicken arepa & a can coke for $17. The arepa was so bland & the toppings tasted like mayo. The Mexican in me wanted to add salsa & some other trimmings to make it taste better. The portions are so small you will be so angry you spent $17 on this meal. This food hall has to many options for you to consider this one.
I really love this place, Arepa Lady is purely amazing! Their batido de mora is amazing and their batido de guanábana is spectacular! Something about their salsa rosada taste so much better than any other type of salsa rosada. I got the Arepa de choclo con chicharrones y un batido de guanábana. Food was so good when I took my first bite it was dancing salsa with me. I will definitely be returning soon. Gracias por la comida, Arepa Lady!
Arepas and Patacones! Hot and delicious! We tried the combo arepa with beef, chicken, and chorizo which was an arepa cut in half with the meats and cheese. We also had the sweet plantain Patacones which is batteres and fried patty of mashed sweet plantains served with black beans, lettuce, and avocado, and added chorizo. Both were delicious! Service as fast and friendly.
Saw that they had chicharrón and since I'm a big fan of chicharróns I had to get some. The food was pretty good. The portions were not that great though. The cashier seemed distracted and would rather talk to her co-workers.
Got the patacon green plantains not sweet with shredded beef. Sad to say the meat was severely under-seasoned even less than Chipotle meat and the "spicy" mayo tasted like regular mayo. No other complaints, customer service and cleanliness were good. I have never tried their main location in Queens, so the lack of seasoning could just be a problem with this location.
