Stellar summer camps!

My children have been here for multiple swimming lessons and one summer camp. It's a beautiful place surrounded by tall trees on the Severn River. It's full on nature with kayaks, a large hall and a swimming pool. They offer swimming lessons shortly after AACPS lets out for the summer. Although I could sign up for the Parks & Rec lessons at the Glen Burnie or Annapolis indoor pools, what I like better about Arlington Echo's lessons is that they are two weeks of four consecutive days. My kids spend less time relearning what they learned last week and more time getting better. It's a small pool and well staffed and the teachers know how to work with kids of all skill levels, pushing them enough but not too much. This summer my daughter also did El Campo en el Bosque, which was their four day all day Spanish camp. The kids would learn some spanish, eat some Latin-American food (or more Tex-Mex from what my daughter described) and otherwise have a summer camp experience, with time in the pool each day. She loved it and picked up a little Spanish on the way. The camp is well maintained, as is the pool area. Very clean and well landscaped. But, because of the nature of the camp, bring bug spray! You are on the Severn River in a forest, so yeah, lots of flies and mosquitos! Also, to preserve the area, they just have a very small road leading in and eat and very limited parking. So, be on time without being too early and leave immediately. As parking it very tight and they try to time it so cars aren't coming in and leaving at the same time, as the small road cannot accommodate that well! Overall, if your kids at in AACPS, you've heard of it. And now take advantage of their Summer programs too.

It is a conservation education center. Went on an overnight trip with my son. It was a great experience where they taught the children about their impact on the Chesapeake Bay Watershed.
