Story

Founded in 1914, the Art Gallery of Hamilton is the oldest and largest public art gallery in southwestern Ontario. Its permanent collection, which is focused on historical Canadian,19th-century European and Contemporary art, now numbers more than 10,000 works and is recognized as one of the finest in Canada. The AGH is a vital creative hub and centre of lifelong learning that enables people of all ages to enrich their lives by gaining a deeper understanding of art. The AGH offers free admission on the first Friday of every month from 4 pm to 8 pm, courtesy of Orlick Industries.

Great gallery with nice pieces. I went for high tea with my grandmother and had a great time. 6 different kinds of tea and a delicious spread of food.  I just wish there was some background music playing because it is held in a fairly trafficked hallway.

I attended a wedding at the gallery. It's an exceptional space for events. The access to the outdoors, the globe firepit, the incredible lighting created an atmosphere that's hard to beat.
We had access to the gallery exhibits. It's a beautiful and varied display, well worth seeing.

The gallery has an onsite chef and the meal was exquisite, from the lovely & very tasty apps to the cannoli table in lieu of a wedding cake.

Really love this museum, it offers so much culture and history. The pricing is somewhat high but for good reason, which you will find out shortly after entering the facility. They have great programs for adults and children, including a child part of the museum. I suggest a membership if you plan to go more than a few times in the year as it may be more affordable.

Beautiful gallery. Very well laid out, the staff is also wonderful and very helpful. With March break they had fun programs for the kids going on today which was nice to see. The gift shop is extremely cute and their area for lunch is perfect, the woman who runs it is so kind and sweet and makes the best sandwiches. Very clean and has a fun vibe, I loved how they were showing a film today, very informative.
