The Gallery Mandate
The Art Gallery of Windsor collects, conserves, interprets and presents Canadian art. It is a place to view significant works of art by local, regional and national artists; a place to see what Canadians have been making and thinking about for longer than Canada has been a country. The AGW is a valuable cultural resource for the Windsor area, providing the special service of showcasing Canadian art in a city that has the busiest border crossing between Canada and the United States.

The main floor with the permanent exhibits is pretty cool. They go from ancient all the way to modern history. Definitely worth going just for that. 

The upper floors art gallery is nice, but you'd need to be a fan of modern art to appreciate it. It might be different when you go, but when I went it was mostly full of clever photographs and art class type stuff. 

They have a student discount on admission though, so that was nice.

Some times artworks are so powerful, they makes me sweat. Other times I weep with joy, ecstasy or sorrow. Like I know God and have conversed with him. Art so powerful that will accompany me to my grave. 
These where not that kinds of works. 
I was not moved, touched or inspired by the present exhibitions. I walked out feeling empty and meaningless.

The Art Gallery of Windsor is an amazing resource for anyone interested in learning about the cities past as throughout the year they have different exhibitions that are often based on the local area. The building is beautiful and offers an amazing view of the Detroit skyline.

I recently attended AGW for the first time, and was surprised by the exhibits inside. I always pictured it only be a display of modern art!
