Patt Murray does not stop until you hair is Right! 
She's highly skilled in her field, able to customize treatments for her clients' on every visit. She knows the haircut you want and need; completely invested in my being happy with the result.- what a concept!
I've relocated between several large US cities and finding the right-best-hair stylist can be the No. 1 challenge. This time I found the best in Evanston, IL; we are so fortunate AS YOU LIKE IT is here!

I can not say enough positive things about 'As You Like It'.  

HAIR: I have had Pat cut my hair for almost a year now.  From the moment you walk into the door Pat makes everyone feel taken care of.  Pats intelligence as an artist, business owner, and member of the Evanston community is apparent from the moment you meet her. She takes into account my life style, personality and unique hair qualities when cutting, coloring, and sculpting my hair.  I work in the entertainment industry and image is VERY important.  I personally am not the kind of person who likes to use 6 products in the morning and spend over an hour getting ready.  Pat gives me a hair cut that looks great if I don't have time to do anything to it at all, but also has gently taught me how to do one or two simple things to get a more manicured look.      

MASSAGE:  Sam uses a unique combination of intelligence and know how, strength, precision to heal.  Sam and I have had any number of fascinating conversations while he has worked on my feet, back, and neck.  As a performer my body is my tool for earning a living.  Sam has: made it possible for me to spread all my toes individually, made my bunions shrink to 1/4 their original size, addressed my chronic should and neck tension, I've seen Sam elevate sciatica and since seeing Sam I haven't had another tension headache.        

WAXING:  I've had my eyebrows, underarms, and legs waxed.  The esthetician was fast, professional (which means a lot less painful), and very hygienic.  Lovely to talk as well.      

SPACE: In a time period where art, culture and relaxation are so important I can't think of how a working salon and gallery could do it all better.  Great care and thought has been taken to assure that the lighting, acoustics, and general feel of the space as warm and welcoming as the people who work in it.  Details like the communal library, tiny dishes of candy and the thoughtful curation of the gallery itself set this space apart from others.

I'm quite disappointed with my experience here. Throughout, my stylist was extremely slow - a haircut and color that typically takes 2 hours max at other salons took her 3 1/2 hours. The color looks cheap, and my haircut looks chunky. I asked for a trim, and she cut about 3 inches off. This wasn't a communication problem; when she got done she even said to me, "Whoops, that's a lot shorter than you wanted." I can't speak for the services that the other stylists provide, but I certainly won't risk this salon again. They advertise a relaxed atmosphere, and while the decor was lovely, I got the feeling that they equate relaxed with unprofessional. This place is way too expensive for the quality of service I received.

A truly wonderful, relaxing ambiance, and the best place I know for haircuts.  I've been a loyal customer for 15 years.  Patt Murray --an artist herself-- has a sculptor's eye and all the technical know how to make me look good and feel great.  What more could one ask for?
