I was a customer for two years where they had prices a bit above average.  The service was decent so I was fine with it.  Then they suddenly started charging me about 30% above market rate.  When I called to try and figure out why they made poor arguments and tried to trick me into signing up for a price controlled plan which was overpriced where they could charge me even more money.  I had good experiences with the tech who came out to do a cleaning, but watch out for scams from this company and sudden price changes.  I'm getting my oil elsewhere now and am much happier.

Called at the last minute because my oil ran out sometime last night and even though I had a past due balance, they worked with me on a payment plan so that i could have it delivered by the end of today. Thank you for being so kind and working with me!! Being in the freezing cold is no way to live and you made sure I wouldn't have to.

16 year customer, but I've had enough and am switching to someone else.  Had to call for a delivery, as for the 2nd time my tank was empty so I had to fill it myself with diesel to have heat.  They filled up 200+ gallons, and charged me $3.99/gallon.  The market rate in my neighborhood for those on variable price plans is $2.61/gallon (24 surveyed neighbors), MassGov site says $2.82 which includes AGM as the highest price in that average which includes Nantucket/Vineyard.  MassOil site cites $2.35/gallon as the state average.  Called 3 companies and asked what their current, non-introductory rate was for variable price and the average was $2.42/gallon.

I called up to complain about being charged $1.50/gallon more than market prices, and they tried to defend it as a reasonable cost because "we deliver on holidays" and offer reliable delivery, despite me citing two instances where my tank ran out.  I could not get anywhere with the woman I spoke to, and tried to cancel my service and she said that requires a supervisor.   She tried to transfer me, said "the supervisor's computer crashed and has to reboot.  She'll call you back shortly".  Did not receive a call back.

AGM gets 2 stars instead of 1 as in the past when I had a problem with my furnace, such as when it ran out of oil last time, they were quick to dispatch a crew who were always professional.  However, receiving the promised annual maintenance on their plan (hundreds per year) was like pulling teeth.  In 16 years, they showed up only 5 times.

In May 2017, we made an oil heat service agreement. The service was working perfectly with the sales manager Mario Amaral. All of our requests were answered promptly. However, in September 2017, I called to request a maintenance that had not been completed and to my surprise the manager had changed. Since then, I called several times and I even spoke with him (his name is Bill), who said that he will send the technician, who will schedule an appointment and nothing going on until now. We did not get any feedback. They just return only when they want to close an agreement. Im very disappointed with the company.

Very shady outfit.  They are very expensive and argue that they are not charging you the highest in the state, which turned out to be on Martha's Vineyard!  They use your phone number to see if you are an existing customer calling and they charge whatever they feel they can get away with.  If you call from a different line not associated with an account and ask for today's price, they will quote a competitive price.  Then they start mumbling when you confront them with the difference.

They also claimed that you need to be on a pricing plan to get the best prices.  This is another scam they use, because once you are on a pricing plan they have a $400 early termination fee.  The pricing plan is a joke, as  they still gouge customer's on the prices they charge and now you're locked-in because of the early termination fee. 

Very slick scam of a company.  Be very wary.
