I spent $10,000 while brad Litchfield investigated "what happened". And then , at his suggestion and my expense, he hired an "expert" for $5000 and an investigator for 4 more thousand. $25,000 later , the lawyer I ended up with told me in 2 minutes, that "what happened" is not even permissible in court, only whether or not I am an employer. So all that "investigating was a little prematture. And in fact, was never used. Brad must have figured that out at some point because he never even listened to the tapes from the investigator. ( at least I didn't see it in the list of what he did in the bills) When I called Brad asking him if it s true that workers comp had paid the claimant- Jeff- money, instead of calling workers comp to find out, he called the claimants lawyer who misinformed him and he then he misinformed me. Brad had me also hire Zack as an expert on workers claim. I ended up spending a bunch of money as they conferred with each other. I thought it was a little crazy and brad told me that no one specializes in both, that I really have to pay "double, essentially- as they conferred with each other, both came to meetings to tell me what was going on, etc. and I had to have both of them cause they each had different information. Another thing I do not think was true. But I felt a little captivated because they knew so much. Little did I know that most of what " they knew" was irrelevant. At least 4 times, I told him that even tho the claimant's lawyer told him something , I still believed that claimantthe hadn't gotten any money and asked him to check. At least 4 times he said he would and didn't. Then, Brad and Zack spent more money and came up with what they called the "donut hole". Which essentially means, I believe, that if I can settle before workers comp pays out, they they do not need to be involved. After already asking 3 times, brad said "both Zack and I will call the next working day." I don't know if Zack did , but Brad certainly did not. Zack called and said he never heard back. But when my mom called, they called her back the next day . And when I called , they also called me the next day. I finally got the information I had been asking the lawyers when after asking for months , I finally called and got the information I needed in less than 24 hours from the time I decided to find out. But it was too late by then. I also asked repeatedly if "facts matter" because I spent hours piecing the information together. They don't and I never found that out until my newest lawyer, bill told me. In the meantime., Brad sent the information I pieced together to see if the "expert" agreed. He did and charged me another $500. Not that it matters. ( as well, of course of the price of sending the info ,reading the response and forwarding it to me. When Brad talked to the claimant's lawyer, he gave him a couple of money amounts that I would be responsible for. I asked him what those amounts meant . After asking a few times , he said he didn't know. Or maybe that was Zack. Anyway, no one knew. Brad made a date to have a mediation, with the claimant's lawyer, the claimant's lawyer gave a beginning settlement amount that was astounding. I said I didn't know if I would walk into a mediation starting at that amount. Brad shared that with the lawyer who said essentially, don't worry. And he passed that onto me When my new lawyer, bill came on., within a week, he called the claimant's lawyer and they agreed to a lower beginning price. He said he was having a little extra problem because Zack didn't write a "contest" correctly, which was hindering a bit. So I spent over $30,000 and a year before I quit with Brad litchfield and Zack Mittge. My new lawyer is about one third, and in a few months settled the case for less than half of what these guys were suggesting,
