I've had effective and prompt results when I have brought payment issues to the attention of the Attorney General's Office. Yes, the results have been in my favor, and I believe rightly so otherwise I would not have brought the issues to the AG's attention, but regardless of the outcome, I do find that they indeed work hard, and seek justice. One issue dealt with unjust charges assessed by an major online company Instacart that would not address a problem with services charged but not delivered, and could not be contacted. The AG's office stepped in at my request, and voila, a satisfactory and fair response. Decent people indeed.
Now I know why attorney general office in Buffalo is a 1.5 star rating ? I filed a complaint where a car dealer damaged my Brand New truck and lied , denied and refused to honor the warrantys only to have the attorney general's office tell me that they can't take any action , that I can hire a personal attorney on my own ? What a JOKE , All they do is suck money from the tax payer ! Don't waste your time !
During the pandemic MANY people housed in adult homes regulated and inspected by the NYS Health Department had their EIP money seized illegally. After much adieu, atty. C. Canfield told me that though the case had merit, there was nothing they could do; stealing disabled peoples money is not a high priority. I was the one that notified the facility, the health department, disability rights etc. that what they'd done was not legal. No new news folks..poor, disabled members of the community are not citizens to be looked after. The inspection of facilities has also languished as people are housed in filthy conditions.
In 15 years of attempting to notify the State via the Attorney General of illegality, corruption, or consumer fraud issues, I have never once obtained a satisfactory response. The latest was in regards to EZPass which is literally engaging in racketeering by charging excessive fees to consumers which they did not agree to. The Attorney General's Office in Buffalo, via one Pamela Jones, refused to act, stating they could not act on behalf of one consumer. So, I provided evidence of TV interviews on local newsstations, as well as copies of lawsuits from all different parts of this State and others whereby EZPass has systematically victimized consumers. Still she refused to take action. Government employees who get paid to do nothing should be fired. Period. I am sick and tired of hearing what can't be done. My taxes pay your salary, and it is your job to protect consumers, not just some, but all. The refusal of the Attorney General's office to address the Grand Island Bridge situation shows corruption continues between the private contractors and the State. Who knows, the State is probably getting kickbacks.
They helped me get my money back from a shady contractor. He dodged me for over a year. I had to provide evidence of his unlawful practices. Don’t expect them to fight for you like a lawyer. For that you need a lawyer. They provide a service to try and work things out between the parties. They do their best but unless you have sufficient proof and evidence to provide, all they can do is contact the other party to try and settle it. If the other party refuses, the claim is dropped but then filed for future uses if more claims come in. It all depends on how many claims there are against the party. The more claims they get the harder they fight.
My cousin was Brutally attacked she was in the hospital for weeks fractures to her skull, around her orbital bone and more, thankfully there was a security camera somewhere that the asswipe was in full focus. So they caught him and it went to court and my cousin and her sister have yet to hear anything. Meanwhile my cousin who was attacked has suffered a stroke due to the injuries she endured from the attack, currently she’s home and she needs to have speak therapist come out and teach her how to speak again. And the attorney general won’t speak to my cousins sister only my cousin was that was attacked who now cannot speak... how about you do your damn job that you’re paid for and put the scumbag in jail where he belongs so others will be safe!
website sucks !!! impossible to file a complaint on their outdated website. garbage !!
Do nothing pass the buck Government, try FTC another do nothing Government!

They are very lazy.. why try..don't waste your time. They'll just refer you to a private lawyer...
