After having spent several hundred dollars at this location in the last year, I was told today by the parts manager that a pair of brake pads I bought 6 months ago would be covered under the AutoZone "Lifetime Guarantee." 

He told me to buy another pair, install them, and bring back the (Not  so) old ones in the same box to be refunded my purchase price on the second set. I did just that and was back within 2 hours (because I actually know how to work on cars). This time the Store Manager was there to process my return. Instead of the credit the parts manager told me I was due 2 hours earlier (since their pads have a lifetime warranty) I received a lecture that I drive too much and my pads were not covered in the warranty.

Six months and the pads were worn to the backing plates?! No refund on the second purchase?! My business will be taken elsewhere including away from the entire chain. Don't "GET INTO THE ZONE AT AUTOZONE" unless you enjoy wasting your money and dealing with hacks. 

17 years as an auto body technician including ASE Master certification and an uneducated franchisee tells me that brake pads should only last 6 months. Follow up with AutoZone corporate on its way ...

I noticed employees going above and beyond to help people with service engine codes for free. Never remember that being a normal aspect of an auto parts store... Sounds good to me ..
