Absolutely amazing place. I had a bad experience with Lorain Animal Clinic and decided to come here where Dr. Micheal J Turner diagnosed my dog with Kennel cough and put her on the correct medications. My favorite thing about the whole experience is that he didn't make it feel scary. He was very hopeful about her recovery and he spent time with my pup so she could feel safe. Soo many friends and neighbors recommended Avon Lake Animal Clinic and only had Wonderful things to say about the Staff and Veterinarians! After many disappointing Vet experiences- We changed to Avon Lake Animal Clinic and it was the BEST Decision we ever made! Dr Adam Jacin DMV is Personable , knowledgeable, trustworthy and kind to our animals. The staff from the minute we walked in and to reminder calls or to answer any questions— they are professional, caring, considerate and knowledgeable and never seemed rushed or irritated when you ask questions. A simple phone call last week to inquire about exotic vet services was a complete run around ending with the girl saying she couldn't tell me the cost over the phone. I asked again for a ball park estimate of the initial appointment so that I may know if I can book an appointment with the vet. She again said she couldn't tell me that information over the phone. So, I called an different exotics vet who gave me an estimate for the service and an appointment quickly and easily. Please call a different exotics vet for your needs. This place is not the only exotics vet around.
One of my neighbors cats, Toby, escaped, became an outdoor cat, and was bitten by a hawk. The wound was about as big as a small cat food can, and I don’t have any pics of the original wound really, but you could see through to his muscles and tendons, and all the way through his coat. A giant hole. Just writing about gives me the willies. He showed up on my doorstep in the morning and I immediately called Avon Lake Animal Clinic who rushed him right in for an emergency surgery, and how they were able to close it I’ll never know, but they did. Unfortunately he ended up opening the wound because he is a fidgety little guy, and they suggested we try open wound care, and for about a month and a half we have been rehabbing this baby boy. The things they recommended to use and do worked wonders. He started healing immediately, although it’s a slow process, he’s made a miraculous recovery. Happy to report he’s almost done and ready to go home, and the wound is half the size of a dime and is hopefully about to scab over. I can’t recommend them enough for their knowledge and empathy and willing to work with us even though we are pretty low income and this emergency happened suddenly. The entire staff have been so kind and generous with their assistance, and Doctors Emerman, Roll, Jacin, and Graham gave Toby the highest quality care that is possible in the field. Toby’s wound was awful, and they worked miracles, and have tried to make it as easy on us hooman beans as possible giving us as much assistance and time as they possibly can. A million kajillion bo billion stars and thanks from us all! Sincerely an amazing place with top quality everything and everyone! Literal lifesavers! Edit: And he’s discharged!
I took my chihuahua shnoodle here for the first time today, with long matted hair. She is aggressive and has been turned down from other groomers, but they were able to sedate her and handle her with ease. They did a fantastic job cutting her hair. She came home a whole new dog. Will definitely recommend to people I know.
What a wonderful experience at Avon Lake Animal Clinic for my German Shepherd Axl, myself and husband. Dr. Petti and her staff are fantastic. Axl gets nervous with new people and places. Dr. Petti and her staff made Axl feel at ease and were amazing. Since we got Axl we have been to 3 different vets and we are so excited that we have finally found a place we’re all comfortable with to establish Axl’s vet care. Thank you so much!!
I brought my Pom in after he had an episode where he was yelping and writhing. This was unusual so we made an appointment at the clinic. We were charged $94 for an exam, and told the tech and vet about our experience. We said we saw him chewing on a bone before the episode and took it away as soon as we noticed. We also admitted that we gave him some small bits of bacon. He started wrenching soon after and we patted on his back and his stomach, soon after he started yelping and writhing but this lasted a short time. Since we hadn’t seen this reaction before, we made an appointment for the same day. All this was communicated to the vet. It was a very short exam, just did a few touches here and there and declared he was fine. The rest of the time, and it seemed like most of our time, the vet began to “upsale” on several vaccinations and neutering because he had an internal testicle, which I told them about during our conversation. I told her I was feeling overwhelmed by all of the vaccinations, primarily because we hadn’t really addressed why he had the episode he had. She kept pushing the vaccines today, like a pushy salesman and told me the vaccines would be over $300. I asked her to itemize the vaccines and said ok, we can get rabies vaccine. At no time did she discuss the after-effects of ANY vaccines. When we got home, his affect was completely different. He seemed like his equilibrium was off. His personality had changed. I called the clinic and the receptionist, Morgan, was telling me vaccines for dogs are just like humans but it’s usually a couple hours after. I told her I did a simple Google search and found out that not all dogs have the same reaction to vaccines and it can take up to 48 hours for symptoms to appear. I told her I wanted them to examine him and do not expect to be charged. I also told her that the doctor did not discuss side effects of ANY of the vaccines, especially by breed, and did not discuss side effect timelines. The tech said they would call us in 2 days to see how he is feeling. This is going into exactly 2 days, and his affect is still different. I’m wondering why the vet pushed for getting all of these vaccines when she had not determined what caused his episode in the first place. It appears as if the vets are on a commission scale and know that pet parents will do anything and pay any amount to make sure our babies are healthy, and they take advantage of that by “upselling” and also emphasizing worst case scenarios. I did not feel that she cared about my specific dog’s nor mine. This feels like a franchise. I do not recommend. Please look around for a smaller, more intimate vet clinic that will get to know you and your pet. Linda and Noa
Repeatedly the best animal clinic we've been to. Always very painless, compassionate, thoughtful and fair. Highly recommended.
I just want to thank the staff for their compassion and kindness. We had to make the very difficult decision to put our old girl down and they were so attentive and supportive. I have had bad experiences years ago at other vets where they put my cat in a garbage bag for me to take her home to bury her. Here however, they gave us a proper, sturdy box for her burial. They even wrote her name on her doggy “coffin” all pretty. Gave us all the time we needed with her to say goodbye. My family thanks you all
brought my cat in for the first time and they told me he had dental disease. They proceeded to explain that they needed to pull teeth and they would not know how many until they do the procedure. The vet gave me a list of the cost estimates... 1200 to 1800 dollars..... I went to another vet and they said there is no need to pull teeth. To charge that much and put an animal through something so invasive is so disappointing considering another medical professional advised against it. Will not be going back.
