B'nai Tikvoh Sholom is a warm and caring community of Jews from all backgrounds and levels of observance. Services are heartfelt and spiritually uplifting and we come away edified by having learned more than we knew before, from our knowledgeable Rabbi and from one another. Laughter is abundant, and tears are shared.

I travel to this synagogue from Simsbury because it is a warm welcoming community with an amazing Rabbi. They focus on joyful Jewish learning for all, including the Toratenu religious school.

I've been a member since before 2 shuls "married" to form this one. They have a great Rabbi. They run wonderful programs, including a women's Rosh Hodesh group, Talmud study that is actually fun, community Shabbat dinners, an active Sisterhood and more. They are smaller than the other Synagogues in the area and therefore offer a more personal experience, with congregational singing and participation opportunities.

This synagogue has unfortunately fallen on bad times in the last couple of years. Membership is rapidly declining. Very shortly they will be without a Hebrew School. Their USY program has also become extinct. They are having a very difficult time gathering enough people for evening minyan. They haven't been able to have morning minyan for over 25 years. The congregation is quickly ageing as the younger members are leaving for synagogues with youth education and more social activities. Because of membership dropout and associated yearly financial deficits their chief finance officer has stated this synagogue may be forced to close its doors by 2019 or before. It is becoming more and more apparent that the Hartford area cannot support more than 2 conservative synagogues.
