Story

Located in the heart of Durango, Backcountry Experience is conveniently situated on Camino Del Rio, just south of the Durango Discovery Museum. We have ample free parking, the best selection in town and our staff members pride themselves on putting the customer first.

Major kudos to Backcountry Experience for saving my vacation. I broke a tent pole section that rendered my tent useless. They took the extra time to evaluate and repair my pole on the spot – on a tent that I did not buy from them on a brand they did not even sell.  This is what real customer service is about. Five stars!!!!!

Best place in the Four Corners to get quality outdoor gear. The staff is always knowledgable and more than willing to help. Prices are comparable to shopping on line, but customer service is out of the world

All my outdoor gear comes from here.  Good selection and knowledgeable staff.  I appreciate the limited Boy Scout supply section as well.

This place kicks ass. The wide selection of gear and excellent knowledge base of the staff set aside, the level of customer service I've experienced here  is second to none. I've had ski and binding problems all year and this shop has gone above and beyond to accommodate every incident. They have gone so far as contacting ski company's to replace my equipment as well as provide plenty of information on what's going on with my gear and how it functions. Their service is patient and timely, and one time they even allowed me to use their tool bench for a brief moment to mount clips on my skins. Sometimes you can catch pretty screaming deals at Backcountry Experience as well. Having been to nearly every other shop in Durango I can say that this one is hands down my favorite.
