I ordered from Backstage through Reverb and received my new Takamine just a few days later.  They sent me a video of my guitar when shipped and kept me notified every step of the way.  I couldn't be happier with the service I was given!

As a guitar "tech", the guy who checked my guitar out should probably have seen that my guitar (Strat) had locking tuners, and not wound the new strings around the posts as if they were standard tuners. He also should have seen that the staggering on the tuning machine heights (3 longest are supposed to go nearest the nut) was incorrect, but since he apparently didn't have a clue about locking tuners in the first place ....
The intonation was off by a pretty fair bit, after he supposedly checked it. He never sighted the neck to see if the truss rod needed adjusting. And this last one is kinda picky, but could you at least ASK if I wanted a floating or decked bridge?? 
So I'm still looking for a luthier worth a hoot. If Backstage can't get this relatively simple stuff right, I sure wouldn't trust them to change pickups, install a loaded pickguard, or anything that required soldering.

Went in this morning during some errands to pick up new drum sticks. The two employees working were both extremely friendly and knowledgeable. They answered all of my questions with enthusiasm and took the time to find out about drum lessons for me. Will definitely return.

I saw a review about them being overpriced, but I didn't see it. All brick and mortar places are going to charge a little more than online - but that's in every business not just instruments.

I will give them 3/5 because of the amazing tech that serviced my Gibsons while i was in school at MSU. Other than that they are just an overpriced music shop. Starkville area people are better off ordering things online than paying up for them. I gave them regular business for three years, I wasted some money.
