The Balch Hotel in Dufur was blissful, relaxing and everything I wanted it to be (and more). The hotel is super cozy, charming, but it was the food and wine that was phenomenal. The staff were lovely (they called me by my first name every time they saw me) and the chef and I literally had "a moment" when I was checking out. Our moment included a heart-felt hug and happy tears. I kid you not! Get there as fast as you can!

We were a group of 15 coming from all over the US to witness the Total Eclipse of the Sun! We booked this quaint hotel 1 1/2 years in advance; before they even knew it was going to be a BIG deal. Josiah and staff were most accommodating. We booked 9 rooms. They prepared a grab and go breakfast that was ready when we left at 5:00am for our viewing site and later prepared a grand dinner buffet on their lovely grounds that evening after we returned. We all stayed 2 days and enjoyed every meal there. It could not have been more pleasant.  Thank you Balch Hotel!!

Wonderful people without whom no business can succeed (I owned retail Wine shop in Cannon Beach for 12 years.) Friendly, open, smiling, competent and happy staff open the door to guests and  they offer a lovely and magical experience.

Clean and charming accommodations await... And the food is not to be overlooked.

I wish I could have stayed longer!!

Did a wonderful fall hiking and wine tasting weekend offered by the Balch and Friends of the Gorge. Had a wonderful time. Relaxing and quiet place to stay. Meals were terrific. Highly recommend the facility and staff.

We have  had the pleasure of staying at the Balch 3 times now. Each stay has been a total delight. Great food, wonderful service, provided by extremely conscientious and friendly people. We recommend it to all our friends and family.
