I went into Banfield to get a wellness check on a new puppy I just rescued. They were so nice to him and to me. I even signed up for there insurance. Well I noticed he was walking weird so I took him in to get checked. They did X-rays and told me nothing was wrong. So they gave me some pain medication and we left. About maybe two months go by and I take him back in cause I had a gut feeling something was wrong with his back legs. He just wasn't walking normal. They took X-rays again and told me nothing was wrong. Well I happened to be at a dog park and this really nice lady came up to me and told me she was a Surgeon for dogs. She asked to see him as she didn't like the way he was running/ walking. So my husband and I took him to her clinic where she did X-rays and told me we needed emergency surgery. I come to find out that his back hips were completely fractured and the worst hip dysplasia she has ever seen. I called Banfield and had his X-rays sent over for her to view and she showed me where the fracture was. I was so upset that they told me nothing was wrong. I called them and told them I was never coming back and that misdiagnosed my dog and he was walking with fractured hips for over 8 months. He is doing so much better. So thank you to the random lady at the dog park who saved my puppy. I will never go to Banfield again or ever recommend them to anyone. They are terrible and clearly cant diagnose anything correct.

I started going to Banfield in Mt Pleasant SC after not getting good service at my prior vet about my older, ill dog. Banfield immediately referred us to a specialist but was there when we needed them. I loved Banfield in Mt Pleasant, the front desk staff, vet techs and vets were always wonderful - friendly, knowledgable and cared. One of the vets had to put down my old dog and even she was in tears. I recently moved and was so happy to find a Banfield so close to my new home. I expected the same quality service and not having to transfer records was convenient. This Banfield is nothing like the one in South Carolina. My dog and I walked in last Saturday morning because he has had a sore on his foot for over a mI think and it hasn’t seemed to have gotten any better. I did not expect to see the vet as I didn’t have an appointment. I just wanted to set up an appointment and hopefully get some tips on how to care for my dogs wound until the appointment. The girl at the front desk was busy I’m sure, I would have waited for her to finish what ever she was doing so she could actually talk to me. She just seemed to want to set up an appointment and have me go away. I set up the appointment for Thursday then asked for recommendations of what to do til then. She said she couldn’t tell me anything and to wait for the vet. I said ok but are epson salt compresses ok for dogs. She insisted on not helping and telling me to wait for the vet. I’d think she’d have a bit of medical knowledge working at a pet hospital, at least enough to know if epson salt is ok for animals or not. Luckily a PetSmart employee gave me some good tips and was more than happy to help me. Then I left and wrote it off as the desk girl was busy and might be having a bad day. Well Wednesday rolled around and someone called and told me I’d have to reschedule my appointment because the vet was sick. Ok, things happen so I rescheduled for a drop off on Saturday. Who ever called did NOT mention the $20 drop off fee. I asked I could stay and just have my dog seen. They said no, the vet was in surgery. The drop off was a result of them cancelling my original appointment. I could have stayed. I don’t feel as though it was right to charge me the $20 in this situation but I paid just to get my dog in and seen. I didn’t want an infection from the cut to make him sick or something. When the vet was done with her exam, she called to tell me I could pick up my dog. She said he was fine and healing normal. I reiterated that the wound has looked the same for a month. She said ok, I’ll give you 2 weeks of meds. I went and picked up my dog and his meds. Everything went fine there til an hour later when they called to say my dog had eaten a towel while in his crate and to watch his eating patterns and make sure he’s pooping normal & not throwing up. Well... when I was dropping off my dog, I tried to tell the girl that my dog doesn’t do well in crates but she was in too big of rush to listen. If she had, maybe he would have been in an empty crate and not eaten a towel. Well today my dog is not acting normal. He didn’t want to poop. He wined for over an hour after I got home. I called the vet at 6pm, the desk girl said to call back in the morning. She called me back at 656pm and said she talked to the vet who said to go the emergency vet if he gets worse but they close at 7pm. NEVER going back.

This is the best place! I have been a pet owner for many years and did not find my permanent vet until I came here. They have stayed open late for me and are genuinely invested with both myself an my pets. Besides being very personable and friendly they are also knowledgeable and are not looking to make you pay extra costs or get unnecessary procedures. Dr. Torres found something on my puppy that other vets had completely missed! He had previously been neutered (supposedly) you guys can connect the dots on the discovery. The staff is also amazing! Jeanine always greets me and my pets as if she and the vet techs were a part of the family *which they might as well be!" Thank you guys for everything. The pets and I appreciate everything! - Kate, Brandon, Bailey & Dodger
