Dude. After looking at some of the food pictures from Banjo's, my date and I were excited to eat a filling and reasonably priced brunch here. Our eggs, pancakes, and hashbrowns were good, but I ordered a chicken fried chicken with meat gravy, and I'm not exaggerating when I say this: it was literally inedible. No normal human could have finished it. The texture was like chewing on a rubber mouthpiece. It was the first time in my life I've ever sent a meal back. So I asked to try the chicken fried steak instead, and the waitress obliged. Still, the chicken fried steak was rubbery and absolutely terrible. I took one bite and pushed it away. I told the waitress that it was still really chewy, and she said something along the lines of "Oh, darn," but didn't offer to take it off the check. We also sat with nearly empty coffee mugs most of the time. TL;DR: 2 stars. If you stick to mere breakfast basics, you might be fine.

One of the best burgers you will ever find in Topeka Kansas. A double bacon jalapeno pepper jack cheese with bacon. With side of fried mushrooms

Was in Kansas City on business trip a few weeks back and decided to visit a childhood friend in Topeka over the weekend before my flight out on Monday. Saturday morning I was craving breakfast and suggested hitting Denny's or something. My friend insisted we go to this place raving how it had the best breakfast in Topeka so I listened to her and gave it a shot. When we arrived at 11ish the place was packed but able to get a table no problem. Our server was very nice and welcoming. Coffee was hot and flavorful even though I killed it with creme and sugar. That's on me. Menu had a huge selection. I had looked at their website while driving here and seeing all the food pictures really made me more hungry. I ended up ordering a sampler plate, small biscuits and gravy and cinnamon roll. Food came out in a decent time for how busy they were. My poached eggs were cooked perfectly. Bacon was nice and crisp, sausage was very flavorful and hash browns were crisp as well. Shame I had to cover them with ketchup cause I like them that way, not because they tasted wrong. The biscuits and gravy reminded me of how my mom used to make it growing up. Biscuit just right a sausage gravy was flavored great with sausage and peppery. The cinnamon roll was massive. Very delicious! The icing was just the right sweetness I needed to end the meal. Needless to say I could not finish all my food. The portions were more then what I was expecting but that's a good thing I think. Our server during our visit was always stopping by to check on us even though she seemed very busy with other tables. I don't remember her name off hand but she was constantly smiling and very cheerful. When we were leaving I walked by the kitchen entrance and peeked over the double doors and was amazed that only 4 cooks were putting out that volume of food. Amazing staff on kitchen and servers both. I never have made a review before but my experience here needed to be expressed and my friend won't leave me alone about it until I do. So glad she talked me into going here instead of Denny's. The decore and vibe of the place is so heartwarming it feels like being in a home kitchen. Very friendly staff, great food, great portions and fast service for what looked like a very busy day. When I have to fly out to Kansas City again I will be visiting this place again. It will be worth the drive I would think.

Great food. Kind professional service. Price vs quantity fair as well.

My family has loved Banjos for years, but recently they've started to turn on Fox News channel on their large screen TV in their dining room. It's so very disappointing to see this in a public place. The pancakes and food, as well as the amazing servers are a joy, but please turn this junk off. Thanks folks!
