I am writing this review mainly in response to the negative review below. I have been a customer at BankNewport for about 5 months. I opened my account at the branch in East Greenwich and they were very responsive to my situation at the time and receptive to my unique business banking needs. And, as a matter of fact, Ben was the bank representative that helped me at the time. 

Every time that I am in that bank, the employees are very friendly. I receive a much more personal experience with BankNewport than with any other bank that I’ve worked with in the past. This is why I was very surprised to see the negative review with the branch, especially since it singled out Ben. 

My thought is to take a person’s single “horrible” interaction over the phone with a grain of salt and to not let that stop you from trying them out. I am happy with BankNewport, happy with each of the branches that I have visited, and happy with with all of the employees customer service. And, as a bonus, you’re helping out a local business rather than a giant corporate bank.

Spoke with a man named Ben on the phone regarding a credit card transaction at the East Greenwich location. One of the rudest people I have ever spoke with in my life. To be in the banking industry I'm completely appalled at what I just encountered. Rudely hanging up on me. Copping an attitude and said "he doesn't need to deal with this" when I just needed information regarding a transaction. I spoke with card services and made a formal complaint. I do not feel comfortable even going into the branch where my money is located after that encounter. This was extremely unprofessional and needs to be addressed.
