Mr. Harold Banks started Banks Grocery Company in Cairo IL. Our banners included Wonder Market "Sells for Less" until early in the 1980s, when H. Burton Banks Jr. took over as President of the company. In late 1984, our stores were converted to Super Valu Foods "Our name says it all". The store is still locally owned and operated by the Banks family. We changed our wholesale supplier to Associated Wholesale Grocery, Inc in early 2012. Then we changed our banner store to Banks Market. For over 85 years, we have offered our customers the highest quality meats, produce and customer service!
