Story

Barnabas Christian Academy (BCA) provides a solid academic foundation in a Christian environment. BCA is non-discriminatory in the administration of all its policies and program. This school is authorized under federal law to enroll nonimmigrant students.

Mission

The purpose of Barnabas Christian Academy is to give a solid academic foundation in all fundamental areas, along with the structure and loving discipline that will encourage the development of Christian character. Daily classroom devotions and weekly Chapel prepare students to face life's challenges with faith and hope. Each student learns to accept responsibility, value achievement, and take satisfaction in accomplishments. We encourage our students to develop and display self-respect, self- discipline, a high moral standard, good habits, and love of God and country. The strength of tomorrow's leaders is determined by what is placed in their hearts and minds today.

I just pulled my children out after 4 years at this school. I placed my children in private school because they are advanced. My son was placed in 2nd grade and skipped K and 1st as well as my daughter skipping K because they were so advanced. My children did very well until the new administration came on board. The families were notified that the teachers were low paid at the open house. Well, you get what you pay for. My son's 4th grade teacher, Ms. Askew, allowed my son to go from A's and B's to F's on his 3rd quarter report card without having ever had a discussion with myself or my husband. The reason she gave me for his failing grades was that she was aware that he knew the material and that he was doing the work but he began leaving the work in his cubby and not handing it to her. So instead of making him get the work out of his cubby or informing us so we could address the problem, she gave him F's on his report card. A gifted child who skipped 2 grades! I addressed this with Mr. Corley immediately and was told my son would have the chance to hand in his work (that was done and sitting in his cubby) and his grades would be adjusted. After waiting 2 months we finally decided our children's education was not a priority for the teachers and administrators and decided to pull our children from this school. After Mr. Corley found out we were removing our children he wrote me an email telling me they would not be fixing my son's report card and to let it be a lesson learned for him. I'm disgusted at the way we have been treated and would never again recommend Barnabas to another family.

Barnabas Christian Academy provides a wonderful environment for learning. Their new facility is ideally located in Saint Lucie West, and provides beautiful, well-lit, and spacious classrooms. Class sizes are small, usually less than twenty students per class, which allows each student to get personalized attention. The dedicated staff are warm and caring people who gather daily for prayer for the success of their students and their families. There is an emphasis on fine arts that enables the students to experience performing on a variety of musical instruments such as violin and chimes. Students also are encouraged to develop their artistic talent, and their work is on display throughout the building. Drama performances engage students and staff to demonstrate their skills in acting, music, and dance. There are many opportunities for students to engage in STEM program activities, such as creating  and building robots. The school is growing dramatically, and enrollment figures suggest continued growth for next year. The school maintains the charm of a smaller school, but is continuing to improve and to provide greater opportunities for students to grow and to develop their talents and abilities.

I teach at the school. The school is top notch!  This is my first year teaching at Barnabas and it is beyond the best school I have ever taught at. For example in my 11th Grade History class the material I teach is on par with the material my sister learns in college. Christian values are implemented daily. And the education I see taught from everyone is great!
